Barbara Joan Hollis nee Hort

11th Generation Hort: 7th Generation Lynch

I was born the year after WW2 finished at Warburton, a beautiful small town in the Yarra Valley of Victoria Australia. I was named Barbara Joan the 3rd child of Arol Charles "Pud" & Thelma Maude Hort (nee Lynch), my siblings being Valerie (dec) & Jeffrey. I attended school at Warburton Primary and Upper Yarra High School. All my early life was spent at Warburton until I first married then moved to the mining town of Savage River in Tasmania. From the time of my second marriage to Max we've lived at Ferntree Gully, Boronia & Traralgon in Victoria. In 1981 with four daughters we moved to Goulburn NSW and for the past 19years we've enjoyed the warmer climate at Casino in the NSW Northern Rivers area.

My Husband Max

6th Generation Hollis & 9th Generation Jans

This is my husband Maxwell Charles William Hollis, a miner, truckie, cabbie, joke teller and one eyed VFL Collingwood football club supporter. Max was born at Belgrave in the Dandenong Ranges of Victoria. He is the eldest son and one of four children born to Charles Suckling & Helga Adeline Hollis (nee Jans) his siblings being, June, Marie & Barry. Max attended school at Stratford Primary and Sale Tech. He has has many and varied occupations throughout his life. He ran away and joined the circus when he was 16yrs, he has owned and operated a truck buisness (M & B Hollis Cartage) been and opencut and underground miner at Woodlawn Mines at Tarago NSW, driven livestock transport for many years and is now a cabbie.

My Interests & Hobbies

Family History is my passion. I have been involved with Casino & District Family History Group for many years holding the position of President for the past 8years. I've written & published two history books:

"TIME & TRUTH" HORT CONNECTIONS and "THE LYNCH MOB" IRELAND TO DAYLESFORD & BEYOND.

I'm also a member of Casino & District Historical Society, holding the position of Custodian for several years. (I am not quite old enough to be an exhibit )

Another interest I have is China/Porcelain Painting and have had quite a lot of success in selling the finished items.

I work from home as a contract sewer and have a repair service "Fixit Don't Flingfit". I am a distributor for Herbelife, I like to garden, and hate cooking.

Our Family of Daughters
