Born: HENRY MAKER was born in about 1795 Tavistock Devon  England the son of EDWARD MAKER and ELIZABETH POMEROY.

Wife Born: CHARLOTTE AMELIA TILLEY, was born about 1821, Lodsworth Sussex England,the daughter of EDWARD JAMES TILLEY and ELIZABETH NORMAN.

 

Marriage: Henry married CHARLOTTE AMELIA TILLEY formally Spencer on 6th March 1849 St Johns Newtown Hobart, Tasmania. Charlotte was first married at the very young age of 14years to HERBERT SPENCER, on 3rd Aug 1845, Tasmania. After the death of Henry she had a defacto relationship with JOHN MAKER a stonemason and had a child with him. Another relationship was formed with a JAMES WILSON MAKER. Then on the 21st September 1857 Charlotte married WILLIAM WINTLE at Castlemaine Victoria.

 

Shipping Arrival "Mary Ann": Henry arrived in Tasmania as a free single man on 15th August 1833 aboard the ship "Mary Ann".

 

Shipping Arrival "Borneo" Charlotte's father  Edward was a convict, he was charged with stealing and sentenced to 7years transportation to Tasmania. Charlotte, her mother and siblings came to Tasmania aboard the ship "Borneo" on 8th Oct 1828 .

10. ANNIE ELIZA MAKER, b. 1857, Castlemaine Victoria; d. 1857. Charlotte's husband Henry Maker was deceased 14months prior to this child's birth but was named as the father, so it is not known who Annie's father is. Charlotte married William Wintle soon after little Annie died maybe he was Annie's farther?.

Wife Born: RACHEL BLACK was born 1842 in Ireland, the daughter of JAMES BLACK b. Kildress Co Tyrone Ireland and LETITIA MORROW b. Co Armagh Ireland.

Shipping Arrival "James Baines" Rachel came to Tasmania when she was 14years old with her parents James and Letitia Black and her siblings aboard the ship "James Baines" on 2nd November 1855

Marriage Henry married MARY ROCKET, born Waterford England.

Marriage Henry married RACHEAL BLACK 30 Oct 1858 at the Residence of her father James Black, Hobart. Tasmania.

Deaths: Henry Edward Maker died 22 Apr 1914 as a result of being struck by a taxi in City Road South Melbourne. He died intestate leaving an estate of £ 33: 2: 3 most of which was cash. He had just turned 76 years. At the time of his death he was widowed and living with his granddaughter and her husband. (Information contributed by Marg Andrews)
