Born: James Gorrie was a Paper Maker and Block Printer. He  was baptised on 1^st April 1787 in Scotland the son of William Gorrie and Janice Scott.   
Married:  James married Janet Weatherspoon in Methven Scotland on 19th November 1809.

Wife born: Janice/Janet Weatherspoon  was born in Scotland 1790 parents are unknown.

Scottish Census 1841-51: The Scottish 1841 census states Janet Gorrie was living at Ruthven and aged 50yrs, her occupation printfield. She was then living with 6 of her children James 20, Henry c.20, Thomas 15, Andrew c.15, David 12. In the 1851 census she was by then 60years and a widow, still living with their mother were James 32, Henry 30, David 22, Janet 20.
