Birth: Andrew Gorrie was baptised in Perthshire Scotland on 27^th April 1827, the son of James Gorrie a paper maker and Jane Weatherspoon.

Emigration: Andrew emigrated to Australia with his brother William and William's wife Jane and their children, James, John, William Jnr, and Janet, and another brother Henry. They departed Liverpool England 13.5.1834 aboard the clipper ship ‘Lightening’ on her maiden voyage, with 430 passengers, arriving Melbourne 31.7.1854.

Marriage: Andrew married Mary Ann Edwards according to the rights of the Presbyterian Church on the 17^th May 1859 at Double Corner Portland Victoria Australia. Witnesses to their marriage were James Gorrie and Sarah Ann Farnham.

Wife's Birth: Mary Ann Edwards was baptised 22^nd August 1830, St Earth Cornwell England, the daughter of James Edwards and Mary Nicholls/Nicholas.

Wife's Emigration: Mary came to Australia with her parents and siblings, Jane, Charlotte, James, Elizabeth and John aboard the ship ‘Oithona’, they left Plymouth on 21.10.1854, arriving Portland 30.1.1855.

Deaths: Andrew passed away on the 19^th November 1906 aged 80years and Mary Ann died May 15^th 1915 aged 84years, they are both buried at Heywood Cemetery.

3. Mary Gorrie was born 1862 in Heywood, Victoria, and died 1936 in Heywood, Victoria. She married Edwin James Benbow May 16, 1885 in Wesleyan Church, Portland, Victoria, son of Thomas Benbow and Mary (Brackstand)(Baxton). He was born 1865 in Portland, Victoria¹, and died 1941 in Heywood Victoria.

5. Janette (Janet) Gorrie as born 1864 in Heywood, Victoria, and died 1928 in Heywood, Victoria. She married Frederick Henry Benbow 1882 in Victoria, son of Thomas Benbow and Mary Birchall. He was born June 19, 1857 in Hobart, Tasmania, and died 1915 in Heywood, Victoria.
