The Banyan Tree

The banyan is an Asian fig tree, which starts from one trunk. It's branches drop down aerial roots which then begin new trunks. One tree can cover vast areas. The banyan reminds me of our ancestry; beginning with one trunk and adding new ones as time goes by.

I bid you a hearty welcome to my genealogy pages! I haven't included many bells or whistles here, just an effort to show my ancestry as I believe it to be.

The information in these pages came from a variety of sources and have not been documented by me, so should be viewed as reference points, rather than solid data. They are, naturally, subject to change. Any additions or corrections are welcome, my address is at the bottom of most pages.

With very few exceptions I have tried to omit all living persons, and usually I have left out anybody born after 1900 unless I believe they have passed away.

My family includes some rogues and wretches, as well as some who made a more favorable impression on history. While there were a couple (temporary) deserters from the Revolutionary army, there were also an ambassador, a Chief Justice of the United States and two who were knighted in France. I hope each visitor finds a cousin!
