The Rev. W.M. Hammond Jr., of Grundy Hall Doylestown, died Wednesday in Briarleaf Nursing Home, where he was a patient for the past 10 days. He was 69. He wsa the husband of Helen Karch Hammond. Born in Springfield S.C. he was the son of the late William M. Sr. and Virgie Kesterson Hammond. Mr. Hammond studied at the University ofMissouri and the Chicago Theological Seminary at the University of Chicago. For eight years, he was an executive officer of the Baptist Peace Fellowship, a national organization for American Baptist. Mr. Hammond was the director of Horizons Unlimited Inc. his own non-profit organization. He conducted overseas conferences and seminars to study the application of Christian principles to international relations and social and world problems. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Kestie Hammond of Virginia. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Route 463 and Limekiln Pike, Prospectville. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Baptist World Alliance for Relief Projects, 6733 Curan St. McLean VA 22101. Huff and Lakjer Funeral Home Lansdale PA.

Helen K. Hammond died Friday evening in Greenleaf Nursing Home in Doylestown. She was 74. She was the widow of Rev. William M. HammondJr., who died October 11, 1989. Born September 29, 1922 in Hartford Wis., she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Lillian M. Koehler Karch. She had resided at Grundy Hall in Doylestown Township since 1988 and transferred to the nursing home on April 4. Mrs. Hammond graduated from the Baraboo Wis. High School in 1940 and received heer B.S. in Education from the University of Wisconsin in 1944. In 1949 she received her M.A. in Christian Education, given jointly by Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary, both in New York City. From 1945 to 1947, Mrs. Hammond taught high school English at Richland Center, Wis. During the span of 1956 through 1961 she was a secretary for her husband in his work with the Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America. She had been a Friendly Visitor Volunteer at Neshaminy Manor Home and a leader ofreligious activities at Grundy Hall. Surviving are a brother, James W. Karch and his wife Marilyn of Baraboo, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are a sister-in-law Kestie Hammond of Arlington VA and a brother-in-law C.R. Loew of Kalamazoo Mich. A graveside service willb e held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday June 17 in Whitemarsh Memorial Park Routes 152 and 463, Prospectville. Rev. Dr. Robert Hanrahan will be officiating. Arrangements are with Huff and Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale PA.
