So very little is known of George Washington Kesterson's early life. We do know that his father George Sr moved the family to Canada around 1912. George would have been about 16 years old at this time. They lived on a Horse Ranch in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.

Daryl George Zazulak, the Grandson of George (and named for him) remembers that he met him once in 1958. They were on a family trip from Golden, British Columbia Canada to Mexico and on the way back they stopped to see George who lived "somewhere around Los Angeles" in a home for Actors of some sort. I believe that George would have been through with his acting career by 1958.

A very pretty, Frances Lorraine Kesterson, was the daughter of George and Grace Kesterson. Frances was born around 1920 probably in Cadamin, Alberta Canada, and married Walter John Zazulak in 1939. Their only child was Daryl who was born in 1945. Frances obviously did not grow up with her father in the home, as he was in Hollywood acting by 1928. Francis died in 1964.

Daryl also remembers that his grandmother Grace was in and out of his life during the years and that she lived in the US at least part of the time. Grace was the first wife of George Kesterson and we are assuming that he married her in Canada. Daryl remembers her as being very short, very pretty and had dark skin, hair and eyes. Grace died in the mid 1950's in British Columbia and is buried there. Since Grace was alive during all the time that George was married to Inez I guess it would be safe to assume they were divorced.

Since the unexpected always seems to be happening with the Art Mix/George Kesterson family - this picture presents yet another one. This is Walter, son Daryl, Frances and "her brother" according to the caption under the picture. Is this brother a son of Art Mix also? Or is this a half brother from another marriage of her mothers? The questions and surprises just keep happening - the answers are few at this point.




Walter John Zazulak, the husband of Frances Lorraine Kesterson, was born 5 February 1910.

He was the Mayor of Golden, British Columbia Canada for many years and a very nice Biography was written about him in the Golden Star August 9 1978.

Walter was a very active and enterprising man. Always active in community affairs.
