Family Genealogy
My name is Christine Walters and I'd like to share with you, the information that we have accumulated on the James Hart family. This website is dedicated to all the descendants of James Hart.
Our line is that of James Hart, born about 1750 in South Carolina. James was married to Elizabeth Jernigan, the daughter of Jesse & Angelica Jernigan. James & Elizabeth Hart were the parents of at six known children.

Jesse Hart (1780 - 1855 AL)
Henry Hart (1783 SC - 1857 TN) married Nancy Rainey
Thomas Hart (1785 - 1825 SC)
Elizabeth Hart (1787 - 1894 SC) married Daniel Leopard
Derrell Hart (1789 SC - 1855 AL) married Jane Pitts
Hannah Hart (1790 - 1870 SC) married John Kemp

The children of James & Elizabeth were all born in Edgefield County South Carolina. Jesse, Thomas, Elizabeth and Hannah all remained there, while Derrell moved his family to Alabama and Henry moved his family to Bedford County Tennessee.

Henry's children are:
James Williamson, John Henry, Jesse Jernigan & Catherine (Shook) Hart
--- moved to White Co IL.
Rachel (Farris), Nancy Elizabeth (Gossage), Nathan T and Martin Hart
--- made their way to Pope Co IL.
Letha (Martin), Elizabeth (Coats) & Agnes (Morris) went to Texas Co MO.
Malinda Hart, died young in Bedford Co TN
Derrell Hart, the only child that remained in Bedford Co TN.
William Hart - a mystery

I'm hoping that we can find more history on the other children of James & Elizabeth Hart and be able to complete the family Genealogy. If you are connected to this line - please email me with your information and I'll be happy to add it to mine and include you on the "Descendants" page which you can click on below. Here you will find all of our names, email address' and our lineage.
Nearly all the information on the James Hart family can be attributed to the hard work of Charles Gerton Hart (1909-1974) and his wife Marion. It is through Charles' book that we have been able to find each other. Unfortunately Charles did not live to see his book published, Marion went ahead and published the book after his death. We, the descendants owe much to Charles Gerton Hart who has been an inspiration and guide for all of us.

Precious Memories
Written by J. B. F. Wright & Lonnie B. Combs

As I travel down life's pathway,
Know not what the years may hold
As I ponder, hopes grow fonder,
Precious memories flood my soul

Precious memories, how they linger
How they ever flood my soul
In the stillness, of the midnight
Precious sacred scenes unfold

Precious Memories How They Linger
Sent from somewhere to my soul
How they linger, ever near me
And the sacred past unfold

Precious memories, how they linger
How they ever flood my soul
In the stillness, of the midnight
Precious sacred scenes unfold
