Shirley Ann Armstrong to Edgar Brooks
December 15, 1955 - Moline IL

At a double-ring ceremony in the Moline Gospel Temple Saturday afternoon, December 17, marriage vows were exchanged between Miss Shirley Armstrong of East Moline and Edgar L. Brooks of Atkinson. The Rev. Charles Hollis performed the ceremony before an altar appointed with palms and poinsettias. Miss Nancy Hinton sang.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Armstrong of Easat Moline and the bridegroom's parents are mr. and Mrs. Ed Brooks of Atkinson. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a floor-length gown of net over satin created with a strapless bodice and bouffant skirt with ruffles of net and a crown of pearls and dequins on her fingertip-length veil. She carried a white Bible crested with a purple orchid.

Mrs. Frances Ledford of Atkinson, sister of the bridegroom, was matron of honor. She wore a blue waltz-length nylon net over satin gown. She carried white carnations.

Mrs. Sharon Brooks of Atkinson, another sister of the bridegroom was bridesmaid in a yellow waltz-length gown of nylon lace and tulle. Her flowers were also white carnations.

Larry Armstrong of East Moline, brother of the bride, served as best man. Ushers were harold Clark and Bernard Edwards of Geneseo.

A reception was held in the church parlors where appointments were in yellow and blue and a three-tiered wedding cake centered the bride's table. Assisting hostesses were Mr.s B.J. hinton and the misses Dolores Hoffman, Sharon Warren and Thelma marshall.
