From Sally Renaudette of Westfield MA we learn of a new Callicott family whose roots were in Moore County NC with the name "Calcutt". Moore County borders on the east side of
Montgomery & Randolph County, home of most of our early ancestors that moved from Virginia. Sally reports that she descends from a "Thomas Calcutt", the earliest known ancestor of these Moore County relatives. This writer (John T. Callicott) had a long telephone conversation with Mrs Gertrude Keith of Pine Bluff NC., youngest grandchild of Thomas Calcutt. Gertrude is in very poor health having had recent heart bypass surgery followed by a stroke. She will attempt to supplement the following when possible: Ora Callicott, our family genealogist in Greensboro NC, strongly feels that Thomas is the son of James whose property, was on the Moore / Montgomery County lines in NC.
1. THOMAS W. CALCUTT, b. ea 1842 in Swan Station, Moore County NC, m. Effie Hall, b.
ea 1840 in Rocky Mount NC, d. between 1897 and 1903. They were residents of Harnett County NC on Jul 4, 1897 according to their son's marriage license. The 1880 Census reports they had five children and Sally reports three more were born after that Census. Their children:
a. JOHN HENRY CALCUTT, h. Mar 13,1865, d. Sep 19, 1956 buried in Culdee Cemetery in
Pinehurst NC., m. Dora Shaw Jul 4, 1897. They had eight children:
b. GEORGE F. CALCUTT, b. ea 1870, m. Maggie Shaw on Oct 18, 1897. At some period he moved to Winston Salem NC.

f. BETTY (BESSIE) ELIZA. CALCUTT, b. Sep 11, 18 80, d. Mar 22, 1942, m. Delmont Leon Heath Mar 22, 1903. Betty is the grandmother of Sally Renaudette.
g. JAMES RANSOM CALCUTT, h. Oct 2,1883, d. Aug 13, 1958, m. Maggie Renee Stone, b. Mar 4, 1889, d. Feb 21, 1957. They had nine children:
(a)NORMAN CALCUTT, b. Jan 13, 1942.
(b)JACK LESTER CALCUTT, b. Dec 13, 1943.
(c)JESSIE TED CALCUTT, b. Dec 25, 1944.
(d)RUTH CAROL CALCUTT, b. May 31, 1947.
h."SIS" CALCUTT, last reported child of Thomas and Effie Hall Calcutt. "Sis" m. George
Bradford.
At this time we do not know just how this family fits into the "Callicott" family as defined in CC,-I.
The name similarity, location and dates provide a strong indication they are related. To positively
so identify them, we need to know, as a minimum, the name of the father of Thomas Calcutt, b. 1842.
