This indenture made this twenty second day of February in the year of lord one thousand eight hundred and eight between JOHN FOWLKES Prince Edward County of the one part and WILLIAM BALDWIN of the county of Nottoway of the other part witnesseth that the said JOHN FOWLKES for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid before sealing and delivery of these the witnessess where of he hath hereby acknowledge hath granted ------- sold and delivered and hath by these presents grant, bargain, sell and deliver to the said WILLIAM BALDWIN his heirs and assigns forever One certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Nottoway on the east side of the road known by the name of the Rackoon track containing by estimation forty acres be the same or less it being a part of the tract or parcel of land that said JOHN FOWLKES bought of WILLIAM HARRISON and bounded as following. Beginning at the Rackoontrack on said FOWLKES and BALDWINS Corner white oak then running nearly northeast three hundred yards to a corner locust tree then running nearly south six hundred and thirty yards to a corner apple tree then running nearly south west three hundred yards to the Rackoontrack near the lines of ELIAS DEGARNATT and BOLA___? DEGARNATT said corner ------ on the Rackoontract then running with the same six hundred and ten yards to the beginning, together with all ways waters and water corses there on standing, growing and being at the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders ------- the? aforesaid land and premises, or any part there of. Also all the right to interest claim and demand of him the said JOHN FOWLKES his heirs and of to have and to hold therefore said tract or parcel and land and premises together with this and every of these apppertuances unto the said William Baldwin his heirs and assigns forever, to the use and ------ of him the said WILLIAM BALDWIN his heirs and assigns forever, and the forsaid JOHN FOWLKES for himself and his heirs the aforesaid land and premises unto the said WILLIAM BALDWIN his heirs and assigns forever, we warrant and forever defend in fee simple against the lawful blame or ------ of all and every person or persons what so ever. This indenture made this Thirty First day of August in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and eight between NANCY FOWLKES of Prince Edward county of the one part and WILLIAM BALDWIN of Nottoway Co. of the other part witnesseth that the said NANCY FOWLKES for and in consideration of the sum of sixteen pounds thirteen schillings sells to WILLIAM Baldwin all her right of dower in a certain tract of land lying and being in the county of Nottoway containing by estimation 40 acres being the same tract of land sold to WILLIAM BALDWIN by her husband JOHN FOWLKES in his liftime etc.
