David Dodd was a Cooper by trade as stated in his Pension Application 25 Sep 1818. He enlisted in Revolutionary War in Anson Co., NC on 6 May 1776 for 3 years, serving in the 4th Regiment, Infantry, under Capt. Thomas Harris. He engaged in battles of Brandywine and Germantown, and was at Monmouth guarding the wagons of the sick and wounded. Discharged 10 May 1779 at Peranus, NY. Pension Affidavit by Jesse Dodd.

10 May 1779 - Peranus, NY, David discharged from army.

1790 - Franklin Co. GA David Jr. born.

From DEEDS OF FRANKLIN COUNTY, GEORGIA 1784-1826 compiled by Martha W. Acker, Southern Historical Press, 1976, the following abstract shows that in 1803 the wife of DAVID DODD was named ABIGAIL. There is no conveyance unto DAVID DODD for this land, which was a part of land granted RICHARD COULTER, JR. ABIGAIL may have been a COULTER and land came to her by inheritance.
