Letter of Mrs Elizabeth Bowling, of Surry Co., NC: "many years ago before 1800, HARRISON CALLICOAT executed 8 notes to me of 5 lbs. each due in different
years. The first one in 1802. I later transferred two unpaid notes and interest to Henry Branson of NC. Harrison Callicoat having paid the other 6
etc.-- At the time the notes were paid Harrison Callicoat lived in Randolph
County and continued to reside there until about 1806 when he left for Kentucky
as I was informed. Leaving two of the said notes unpaid." (Letter found in the
papers of an old law suit over the estate of HARRISON CALLICOAT, filed in the
Circuit Clerks office, Russell Co., Jamestown, KY.)
