Thomas Woolman 16th Aug 1840

He had the harrowing task in January 1862 presiding as parish clerk into the deaths of his tenth child George and his brother William. The deaths were as a result of a dreadful boiler explosion. Buried in Stonton (now Staunton) Wyville 1870.

Richard had a younger brother, John [1825], born at Stonton Wyville, who is on your website, and who married Charlotte Tailby in Tur Langton on 13/12/1847, where they both resided. They both signed their names with a cross. Their fathers were Edward Woolman and William Tailby, both labourers, and the witnesses were Thomas Ward and Elizabeth Tailby. John is described as a labourer. Source: UK Marriage Cert. Their tombstones and
those of their relatives, the Smiths and the Tailbys in Tur Langton Church yard are surprisingly handsome, and there is some story in the family about them coming into money at some stage to enable them to splash out..... on
these tombstones! source
Tom Woolman

My Gr Grandmother Charlotte Ann Woolman married Joseph William Fry Aug 10, 1878 at St Saviour Church, Leicester. She was born Aug 13, 1861 at East Langton. I have her Birth and Marriage Certificates. Her father's name was George Woolman and her mother's name was Mary Jane Woolman (nee Sims). They went on to have about 18 children but I haven't verified all of them yet. They emigrated to Australia after my grandmother Emma Jane Fry was born June 12, 1891 in Blaby, Leicester.
