Gene Edward Balch
I was born 27 May 1939 in Belle Mina, a small crossroads community located on a county highway between Huntsville and Decatur in north Alabama. My father was Lawrence Fielding Balch and my mother, his second wife, was Lucille Kate Roberts.
My father was first married to Norma McBee of Huntsville, Alabama, and they had a son, Graham Dinsmore Balch. He later married Lucille K. Roberts and they had two children. I was the second child born to Lawrence and Lucille, having a sister, Peggy Louise born in 1935. Both, my sister Peggy and my half brother Graham, are deceased.
My wife, Jane Mirabella and I lived for many years in the Washington DC area where I served in the US Army Intelligence service, and we were later employed with the Federal Government. I was medically retired on disability with almost 21 years of military service and two tours in RVN. I later worked for the Federal Government for 15 years until my health failed. My wife and I retired from Federal service in 1994 and relocated to Arkansas. We currently live at Hot Springs Village, a resort community about 50 miles west of Little Rock and 15 miles north of Hot Springs, Arkansas. We have a son, David Bradley Balch and a daughter, Jody Lynn Balch, both of whom are married and still live in Maryland. Collecting information on our Balch family, improving and maintaining the family history file, and sharing that information with others is my hobby. It is my wish to contact as many members of our family as possible and to share the information I have compiled with any who are interested. I hope that this Web Page will help in accomplishing that goal.
I welcome comments and suggestions on how I might improve any of the files and information related to our family history, and of course it is always a pleasure to hear from other family members and those related to our family line.
Please drop me a line let me know what you think of the web page, or just to say hello. Gene
