Surveyed for Reason Baker two hundred and fifty acres of land on main Rockey Creek, joining the upper line of George Mattison’s land Beginning at a post oak on the north side of the creek and and north of Mattison’s beginning corner, thence West two hundred and forty poles to a post oak, thence south one hundred and sixty eight poles crossing the creek to a pine, thence East two hundred and forty poles to a pine, thence north crossing then back to the beginning.

ROWAN COUNTY LAND RECORDS/ABSTRACTS

On 22 September 1768 a petition protesting taxes and corrupt officials in Rowan County was sent to Justice Christopher Nation, to be presented to the Assembly when it convenved October 7^th and November 3^rd. The petition was signed by thirty county residents, which included Aquilla Felps*, Sibeyley [Sylvester?]Baker, Obediah Baker and Abner Baker.
