View from Bates Rd. The cemetery is located under the single tree on the hill. The few stones that are left are stacked  under the tree most are broken and the differant pieces are scattered and hidden among the weeds

“Quoting from a Letter from Robert W. Owen of Lyndon, Kentucky, October 10, 1938:

Near Smithfield, Kentucky, on the Jackson’s Fork is the land owned by the Rev. Lawrence Owen one of the first Methodist Ministers in Kentucky.  On the top of the hill about two hundred yards away from where the home stood is the family burial ground, but not a stone standing.  However all the pieces of Lawrence’s headstone were found.  It seems to have been a sort of neighborhood burial place as you will note by the stones found there:
