249-250 Know all men that Harrison
Delgam and Rhoda Delgam his wife of Boone County Kentucky of the first
part in consideration of three hundred and four dollars to them paid by
George W. Baker and Jesse Roberts of the County and State of aforesaid of
the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged do hereby
bargain sell and convey to the said George W. Baker and Jesse Roberts all
the right title _______ claim and demand both in law and equity of and
unto a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the
County and State aforesaid on the waters of South Fork of Big Bone Creek
adjoining the lands James West & G.W. Baker, there being about two
hundred and twenty six acres and the same on which George Delgam the
ancestor of the party of the first part lived and died and all the
interest in reversion or remainder of the party of the first part in and
to said tract of land together with all the privileges and appurntenances
to the same belonging to have & to hold the same to the said Geor. W.
Baker and Jesse Roberts their heirs and assigns forever the grantor and
his heirs executor and administrator hereby coventing with the granters
their heirs and assigns that the title so conveyed is clear free and
unencumbered and that he will warrant and defend the same against all
claims
whatsoever. In witness whereof the said
Harrison Delgam & Rhoda Delgam hereunto set their hands and deals this

West attorney in fact for Robert Fowler of the County of Boone and State
of Kentucky of the first part, in consideration of a bond being assigned
on Lewis Webb agent for Th. D. Corneal for a tract of land containing
about 89 acres lying in Boone County purchased of s’d Corneal by Peyton
& Cr______

Jesse Roberts and George W. Baker of the County of and State aforesaid of
the second part the ______ whereof is bereby acknowledged doth hereby
bargain sell and convey to the said party of the second part and their
heirs and assigns forever, the following real estate viz. Lot N. 3 in a
tract of 168. acres of land on which George Delgam lived and died Lt No 3
in a tract of 58 acres of land which was purchased by said deceased, of
Lewis Webb agent for Coreal, and also the witness of the party of the
first part, with in law or equity in that portion of the aforesaid
described tow tracts of land which I have or may ____ after the death of
Margaret Delgam which was set apart as the widows dower (after the death
of said widow) said land lies on the South Fork of Big Bone Creek in the
County and State aforesaid and for a particular description of the
boundary of said Lot #2 and Lot No 3 in the first and second tracts of
said land _____ is hereby made to the division of the lands of said George
Delgain dc’d ____ to Margaret Delgam widow of said George by C_______ by
the Boone County court, and recorded in the Clerks office of said County
court. Together with all the
privileges and apputunances to the same belonging to have and to hold the
same to the said Jesse Roberts and George W. Baker and their heirs and
assigns forever, the grantor and his heirs executors and administrators
hereby _________ with the
granted and their heirs and assigns that the _ so conveyed is clear free
and unencumbered and that he will warrant and defend the same against all
claims whatsoever. In witness

258 This indenture made this
28th day of May in the year of our Lord 1849 between G.W. Baker
and Jesse Roberts of the County of Boone and State of Kentucky, witness
that whereas the said Baker and Roberts find themselves joint owners in
twe certain tracts of land formerly owned by the late George Delgain and
purchased by him of S. West, have agreed to a division of the
same. Now therefore and in
consideration of a deed from the aforesaid Roberts relinquishing to me the
remainder of said lands bearing ever date with these presents, and one
hundred dollars in hand paid I the aforesaid Baker have this day
relinquished and by these presents do grant bargain and relinquish to the
said Roberts all my right title and interest in and to the following
tracts or parcels of land to
wit One Lot Beginning at the sugar tree and ironwood in a line of the heir
of James Baker dc’d the North most corner of James Wests 103 acre purchase
thence with a line thereof East 116 poles to a stone in said line, corner
of my division of 79 acres thence with my line north 125 poles to a stone
(anoterh) corner in said division in (Cave) & Ben Johnsons line thence
with it S88 ˝ W. 116 poles to a large beech in said line corner of the
heir of James Baker dec’s thence South 120 poles to the
beginning. Supposed to be 88 acres, ore
or
less. One tract on the waters of
the south fork of Big Bone Creek bounded as follows, To wit, Beginning at
a sugar tree on the Louisville road thence East, 61 poles to an oak and
ironwood in Samuel Moores line thence with it South 26 poles to and elm
and buckeye corner of said Moore, thence with another of his lines East 36
poles to two hickorys and elm and hackberry, thence South 83 ˝ poles to
three Sugar trees and an ash corner of (Craven) Delgains, thence with his line
West 110 poles to a sugar tree on the said road, thence with it by its
various meanders to the beginning containing 38 (or 3.8) acres more or
less with its appurtenances unto him the said Roberts and his heirs
forever to his and theirs only __the said G.W. Baker, for himself and his
heirs doth hereby covenant and agree that he will warrant and defend the
title of said land against the claim or claims of all and every person or
persons whenever, But in case any or all of said land should be lost by
any personal claim then in that case the said Baker is to refund the sum
of One hundred and one dollars without interest if all should be lost or
in proportion for a part of

relinquished and by these presents do grant bargain and relinquish to the
said Roberts all my right title and interest in and to the following

The following sale can be
confusing as it is a transaction between two men with the same initials.
Our GEORGE W. BAKER and REBECCA JANE BAKER his wife, selling to his cousin
George Washington Baker son of Steward. It states that our G.W. BAKER
purchased this land from “Stewart” Baker; (his uncle) now my George is
selling the farm to his cousin George, Steward’s son. This sale preceded GEORGE W.
BAKER’S 1850 move to Shelby Co.,

Baker Know all men that George Baker and Rebecca Jane Baker his wife of
Boone County Kentucky in consideration of Twelve hundred dollars in hand
paid and secured to be paid to them by George W. Baker of the County and
State aforesaid 104 acres the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged do
hereby bargain sell and convey to the said George W. Baker of the County
and State aforesaid the ______ following Real Estate, viz. Ace that
certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the County and
State aforesaid on Mudlick Creek and bounded as follows to wit, Beginning
at two Sugar trees on the point of an island thence South 100 poles to
there ash and an ironwood; thence S881/2 W 150 poles ( passing Delgains
corner at 13 poles and with his line to an ash hickory and haw bush on the
side of a ___thence N86.146 poles to a walnut Sugar tree and mulberry on
the bank of said creek, thence up the centre thereof by the various
meanders to the beginning, containing by survey one hundred and four acres
of land conveyed by Stewart Baker to the said George Baker on the
10th day of April 1846 Together with all the privileges and
appurtenances to the same ________ To have and to hold the same to the
said George W. Baker his heirs and assigns forever, The grantors and their
heirs executors and administrators herby co-____with the grantee and his
heirs and assigns, that the title so conveyed is clear free an
unencumbered and that they will arrant and defend the same against all
claims whatsoever.In Witness whereof, The Said
George Baker and Rebecca Jane Baker his wife hereunto Set their hand and
Seals the 27th day of August in the year eighteen hundred and
fifty
