He is listed on a deed located in Hernando Co., FL (Bk A, Pgs 619/621) as the
son of William Jackson and Martha Baker. In this deed his parents grant he
and his brother property they owned including houses, stables, outhouses, etc.
His marriage to Celestia Duval is listed in Hernando Co., FL records (Bk 0, Pg
4).

He was a merchant, owned a sawmill with his brother on Lake Bradley named
"Baker Brothers", owned the first phosphate mine together with Bill Brooks
located about 1 mile S.W. of Floral City in the Pine Lake area, lived in one
of the finest homes originally located on the NW corner of Orange Ave & Church
St. which was sold in 1898 and is now located 1/2 block from the railroad on
Orange Ave, owned the property (Lot 1, Sec 15-20-20 and Lot 3, Sec.
14-20-20) Floral City was laid on. He was paid $110 to cover the cost of the
second school building which was located on the corner of Baker and Orange Ave.
and a warrant was issued in 1897 to cover the money he loaned for the third
school on Martin Ave. (School Board Minutes, 6 Sep 1897). He was one of the
first officers (Worshipful Master 1893) of the Free and Accepted Masons,
Floral City Lodge #133.

Floral City Methodist Church records indicate he was received into membership
on 2 May 1885. His membership was transferred out on 10 Oct 1898.
