Pg. 41, Edward Brown, Private, N.C. Militia - Soldier appears in N.C. Army
Accounts, Vol. VI, Bk 23, pg. 102, while living in Sampson County and was to
receive voucher #48 for a principal due him of 26/10/0 pounds. He was pastor
of Great Cohera Baptist Church (Rowan, today) from 1749 to 1783 when he died.
Elder Edward Brown came to that portion of Duplin County which became Sampson
in 1784, where he purchased a 900 acre plantation. His wife was named
Prudence and they had the following children: Edward Jr.; Arthur who married
Lucy Butler on 12 Jun 1780; Sherod who married Feebee Wiggins; Susannah;
Jemima who married Hardy Stevens; Mourning who married Joshua Sikes.
