[141] Elias found on Muster Roll of Capt. R.D. BRADLEY's Company of the 1st
Regiment, Florida Mounted Militia, commanded by Col. W.J. BAILEY, ordered into
service from 14 Mar 1841 to 14 Jun 1841, paroled at Charles Ferry, East
Florida.

[142] 1 Dec 1842 signed Petition to the Pres. & Congress by Citizens of the
Territory requesting fulfillment of broken promise to citizens to occupy
Indian country with protection and subsistence. Territorial Paper of U.S.,
Volume XXVI, Territory of FL 1839-1845.

[143] Armed Occupation Act of 1842, Application for Permit, dtd 29 Nov 1842, Permit
#11, Certificate #196, SE 1/4 of Sec. 13, Twn. 21 S., Range 19 E., containing
160 acres. On 3 Jan 1848 Elias declares he made an actual settlement in Sep
1843, erected 1 dwelling house and 5 out houses, commenced cultivating land in
Feb 1844, cleared and enclosed in later part of 1844 six acres of land, has a
family consisting of himself, wife, one male and two female children.

[144] Homestead Act of 1862, Application #2346, Certificate #606, NE 1/4 of the NE
1/4 of Sce. 35 and NW 1/4 of NW 1/4 Sec. 36, Twn. 20 S., Range 20 East,
containing 80 and 79/100 acres. Final Affidavit states he has resided on land
since 27 Feb 1868 and he is the head of a family consisting of a wife and
three children. 1 Jul 1875 a U.S. Patent was issued.

[145] Hernando County Our Story by Alfred A. McKethan lists Azilpha's husband, E.J.
KNIGHT, as a County Commissioner in 1845 and a County Judge in 1852.

Roll of the Honored Dead," listed death of Elias J. KNIGHT, 7 Jun 1882 in
Hernando Co., FL.

Henry married Sophia WHIDDEN and they had a son, Harold P. BYRD. Helen N.
BRYD is the widow of Harold P. BYRD.

was received into membership on 8 Dec 1889. He was again received into
membership on 23 Mar 1913. At some point his membership was transferred to
Lakeland, FL.
