Florida was raised by her uncle, William Jackson BAKER, after the death of her
father, Isaac, in about 1855.
[208]
Florida married Thomas Noah SMITH (b. 28 Nov 1853) on 29 August 1876. Their
children were: Martha Eveline, Fannie Eliza, William Baker, Thomas Wesley,
Nathan William, Albert Windfield, Birdie Agusta, Unnamed Infant, Joel Ward, Sr.
, and Lenora Jane SMITH.

8 Jul 1861, Hernando County, FL Deeds, listed as an heir to Isaac B. BAKER's
estate. I am assuming she was Isaac's daughter. A later deed, dtd Aug 1877,
(Bk B, Pg 214/215 Hernando Co.), conveys Florida's land to William J. BAKER,
her uncle, and shows Thomas N. Smith as her husband.
[210]
Florida died on 17 Jan 1930 and Thomas died on 23 Feb 1901. They are buried in
a SMITH family plot in Lake Lindsey Cemetery, Lake Lindsey, FL.
[211]
Florida's obit, dtd 23 Jan 1930, says she was 76 when she passed away at the
home of her son, J.W. Smith, after a short illness attributed to a heart
attack. Funeral services were held at Lake Lindsey. Rev. W.E. Sewell; paster
of the Methodist church of Brooksville, officiated. Serving as pall bearers
were sons and relatives: J.W. Smith, Wesley Smith, N.W. Smith, J.T. Langford,
H.C. Waters and Jame Ogle. She was survived by six living children: J.W.
Smith, Wesley Smith, B.A. Smith, Nathan Smith, Mrs. Leonora Langford, all of
Hernando Co., and W.B. Smith of Tallahassee.
