Notes on Noah Castor:
My research of the Studley family led me to Ruth Castor and through her I found her father Noah Castor and his will probated in 1830.  Although I traced Noah back into Pennsylvania, I hit a brick wall there.  I joined the Castor Association of America and bought the book The Descendants of Paulus and Gertrude Kusters, which gave me the ancestors but presented a problem.  There is no proof of his parentage.  He was born in Brocks Gap, Harrison County, Virginia the son of either Conrad Custer or Conrad's son Arnold.  He was born in either 1764 or 1758.  From his age on his gravestone, which is no longer available, he would have been born in 1764.  That makes him a bit young to have fought in the American Revolutionary War of 1775, although by the end of the war he would have been old enough. If he had been a son of Arnold Custer he was born about 1758, since Arnold was killed by Indians in 1759.  Conrad raised him, and that is why he was reputed to be one of the 30 children of Conrad Custer.
