She states that John Collins indentured himself to Daniel Boyle for a year and a half on September 22, 1745 in Philadelphia.  John Collins and Thomas McGuire were then transported to Frederick County, Virginia to work on a tobacco plantation.  By 1749 John Collins bought land in Hampshire County, Virginia from Thomas Lord Fairfax.  In 1765 he sold tracts of 119 acres and 133 acres to John Keating.  He bought 400 acres from Mary Wolfe in Hampshire County in 1766.  He kept the Fairfax and Wolfe tracts until his death.  He left no will, and his sons Thomas, John Jr. and George divided the land without probate in 1795.

Clerissa's documents include the following:
1. Copy of one of the 1765 deeds from Hampshire County where John Collins Sr. sold his land to John Keating.  It shows the mark that John Collins used as a signature.
2. Copy of the Hampshire County deed from Deed Book 10, p. 55, which proves the relationship between John Senior and John Junior.
3.  Copy of the Hampshire County deed from Deed Book 12, p. 14, which proves the relationship between John Sr. and his son Thomas.
4. Copy of Rev. David Sutton's last will and testament witnessed by John and Hannah Collins in Somerset County, NJ December 1775.
5. Copy from the first Monongalia County Survey Book showing the location of John Sr.'s land along the Cheat River.  Note that it borders Jacob Cozad's land.
6. Copy of the marriage bond between Abraham Bennett and Mary Collins, daughter of John Collins Jr. dated January 1793.  This bears John Jr.'s signature.
7. Copy of the Roy Bird Cook manuscript.  His story of the history of "Collins Settlement" closely follows Edward C. Smith's version in A History of Lewis County West Virginia.

Thomas McGuire wrote a will in Washington Co., PA in 1792 in which he mentioned that he still owned land in Hampshire Co., VA and mentioned a Luke Collins in that County.  Luke may be related to John Collins, but there is no proof.
