Johann Baptist married Maria Anna Kreutzer (2) on 10 July 1810 in Brochenzell. Maria Anna, who was born on 14 July 1779, was the oldest child of an “Ammann” of Brochenzell, Sebastian Kreutzer (1752-1828) and his wife Maria Schnez (1755-1800). According to the Humpischloss Brochenzell website, the Kreutzers had been caretakers of the castle for three generations, from 1702 until 1810, until Johann Baptist purchased the property in 1822. (3) Johann Baptist and Maria Anna had seven children in total (including two sets of twins), only three children surviving to adulthood.

Maria Theresia's mother, Maria Anna, died on 5 June 1819 at age 39, due to complicated childbirth with her last child Johann Baptist. Six years after her death (in 1825), Johann Baptist married his wife's sister Maria Theresia (b. 12 Jun 1793), with whom he had another child, a daughter named Genovefa who was born on 21 Dec 1826. Johann Baptist Ehrle died at the age of 60 years and 3 months on 3 Oct 1829. (4) The cause of death entered in the parish register was Stickfluß which translates to “suffocative catarrh”

Maria Theresia Ehrle (Johann Baptist's daughter, not his second wife) married Franz Joseph Knöpfler in 1836 (see the page for Franz Joseph Knöpfler for the marriage entry) and later moved to Winterstetten with her family

NOTES:

1 The source of most of the information in this section (unless otherwise noted) is from: Kirchenbuch, 1668-1900, Katholische Kirche Brochenzell (Ettenkirch), Taufen 1808-1884 Heiraten 1808-1900 Tote 1808-1898 Familienregister ab 1860 Familienregister ab 1808; FHL microfilm 1,044,423.

2 This surname has appeared in many forms through the Brochenzell parish records. It appears as both Kriezer and Kreuzer, and it appears as Kreuzer in the Winterstetten Familieregister. There is a street today in Brochenzell named for Maria's father Sebastian known as Ammann-Kreuzer Weg.

4 The Familieregister in the Brochenzell parish records contains the notation “Baptist Ehrle Wirth + Morgens 2 Uhr den 3ten 8ber 1829” meaning that he died at 2 o'clock in the morning on the third of October [8ber] 1829.
