TRANSCRIPT FROM ON THE TRING EPIDEMIC
HERTFORDSHIRE IN 1899
TRANSCRIPT OF TELEGRAPH MESSAGES
This is a complete transcript of the telegraph messages to assist you in planning your programme. While all the messages will come through over the day, you may choose only to focus on some messages. The actual messages which arrive in the Telegraph Office are not numbered. One way to display the messages is to create an 'Information Board' in your classroom so that the messages can be displayed in chronological order as they arrive and so that the students can refer back to them as the programme continues. MESSAGE 1: Sirs, I wish to inform you that there is a defective drain on my premises at 47 Frogmore street. During the recent heavy rain it blocked and overflowed, sending foul water all over the yard and into Frogmore street. I have had illness in my house as a result. Please have this matter attended to at once. Yours, etc |
