The Democrat newspaper in Lowville, NY reported on 9 March 1898: "John Spencer of Copenhagen has received an increase of pension from $4 to $8. Restoration and increase, Elisha B. In the January 1920 census, Fred and his family were living in St. Lawrence County, Town of Madrid and his occupation was farmer. In the 1940 Town of Wilna, Jefferson County, census, Fred (72) and Lillian (69) were living with sons David (38) and Oscar (27).
