Azro A LADD was born in Oct 1850 in Parishville, NY. He died on 5 Sep 1915 in Ogdensburg, NY. He was buried on 8 Sep 1915 in Hermon, NY Cemetery. From The Courier in Hermon, NY dated 8 May 1889: "Those who have young stock to put out to pasture during the coming season should call S. H. or A. A. Ladd. Pasture within six miles of village." In the 1900 Town of Hermon census, dwelling 286 and family 297, Azro's name is spelled as Asrorl, and it says they were married for 30 years. Azro was likely born in Parishville, NY where his parents lived in the 1850 census, but his obituary says that he was born in Hermon, NY. His mother's obituary says that the family came to Hermon in 1853; he was born in 1850. The Ogdensburg Advance and St. Lawrence Weekly Democrat reported on 4 October 1906 under Hermon news: "Azro Ladd has sold his three year old colt to James Walmsley for $100." Azro died at the Ogdensburg City Hospital; the Ogdensburg Journal of 8 September 1915 on page 6 gives his name in error as Ezro Todd (the handwriting of those days caused many errors). On 8 September 1915, the Gouverneur Free Press gave this obituary for Azro on page 2: "AZRO LADD Old Resident of Hermon Who Passed Away in the Ogdensburg Hospital Saturday Azro Ladd, a lifelong resident of Hermon died in the Ogdensburg City Hospital Saturday after a week's illness, aged 66 years. Mr. Ladd had been at Bigelow and was taken ill there. Mr. Ladd was born in Hermon, a son of Lyman and Julia Fenton (note: her last name was Phelps not Fenton) Ladd and practically his entire life was spent there where he followed various callings. Besides his widow he is survived by two sons, Eugene Ladd, a well known farmer of the Scotch Settlement district of this town and Ernest Ladd of Hermon; a brother Spencer Ladd and a sister, Miss Chloe Ladd both of Hermon. The body was taken from Ogdensburg to Hermon by Undertaker Frank W.
