Major WATSON was born in 1747 in Tyrone County, NY. He died in 1845 in Walworth, WI. He was buried in Linn-Hebron Cemetery, McHenry County, Illinois. Major's death date has also been seen as 15 March 1840 with no place given. Poor Major Watson had quite a time in the Revolutionary War as he was captured by the Canadian Indians in 1777 at Ft Stanwyck in Rome NY and held prison by the British. He later returned to New York State at the close of the war and again took up arms in the War of 1812 in Ogdensburg, NY and once again he was captured by the British and held prisoner. Its a miracle that he lived to be over one hundred years of age and traveled at over 93 years of age by ox and wagon to the wilderness of Wisconsin to Lake Geneva with his daughter and son-in-law.

Nancy was found in the 1850 and 1860 censuses in the Town of Rossie, NY living with her parents. In the 1870 Rossie census, she is living with her second husband, Henry Rowe, their daughter, Effa M. Rowe, and her daughter from her first marriage, Annie Apple. Her birth and death dates and her parents' names came from her death record, which was found at the Town Clerk in Antwerp, NY, under her fourth married name Nancy Jane Holmes. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage.
The Watertown Daily Times had two notices about Nancy's death. On 31 October 1922, the notice read: "HOLMES - In the Town of Antwerp, October 30, 1922, Mrs. Nancy Jane Holmes, widow of Joseph Holmes of the Town of Antwerp, aged 75 years. Funeral from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Washburn, Town of Antwerp, Wednesday at 2 P.M. Interment in Riverside Cemetery." The 2 November 1922 notice read: "Gouverneur, November 2 - Funeral Services for Nancy Jane Holmes of Spragueville were held from the family home at 2 Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Mrs. Culligan, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church of that village, officiated at the services. The funeral was largely attended. She had worked for the Burton Baker family, taking care of their six children, including two sets of twins, while her husband Philip served in the military in Germany. She also was a housecleaner for several Gouverneur families and had worked at J.J. Newberry's. Ellen was employed at E.J. Noble Hopsital, Gouverneur for 32 years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, especially Pedro, and being involved wih civic functions, especialy at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the church, served in UMW Unit 2, and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Seniors Club in Gouverneur and Hermon-DeKalb.
