Third Generation

5. George Denison3 Smith (Nathaniel2, James1) was born in Utica, Oneida County, New York on 16 December 1835.(26) He died on 6 August 1904.(27)

He married Ann Fellingham about 1859 (estimated). Ann was born about 1839 (estimated).

George was listed as a household member living with Millicent Avery on the 1850 Census in Verona, Oneida County, New York.(28) George was listed as a household member living with Millicent Avery in the 1860 Census in Vienna, Morris Post Office, Grundy County, Illinois.(29) Because an ancestral relationship exists for one of George's siblings who bears a surname for a middle name (Nathaniel King was a granduncle of George's mother), we have searched in vain for a Denison ancestor (for George) or a Harmon ancestor (for his brother Joseph Elisha Harmon) of either his father or mother. It is possible that he may have been given the middle name of his uncle Elisha Denison Avery or both he and his uncle may have been named afer a still unidentified Denison ancestor.
