She married George Grant Burgess on 2 September 1900 sister of his brother Edward's wife.(62) George was born 16 March 1874 in Zenia, Trinity County, California. George was the son of George Washington Burgess and Nancy Sylvina Conant. He died 6 April 1950 in Eureka, Humboldt County, California. He was buried in the Barnwell Memorial Cemetery in Blocksburg, Humboldt County, California. George was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census in Vanduzen Township, Humboldt County, California.(63) George's occupation was listed as "Farm Labor." He lived alone on a mortgaged farm.
George was listed as the head of a family on the 1910 Census in Vanduzen Township, Humboldt County, California.(64) His occupation was listed as Blacksmith. He and his family lived in a rented home. The enumerator, Craig Rickey Thompson, was the husband of George's sister, Sadie Ann. We have noted several instances where he recorded incorrect or questionable data about family members. In this case, he records the birthplaces of Maude's father and mother as Massachusetts and New Hampshire, respectively, when they were actually born in New York and California and are so recorded in his entries for Maude's parents and for her sister Josephine.
George was listed as the head of a family on the 1920 Census in Eureka, Humboldt County, California.(65) The family resided in a mortgaged home at 1123 C Street Both George and Maude were listed as working for wages, George as a house carpenter and Maud as a fur cutter in a fur store.

Joseph G.5 Burgess(68) was born in Blocksburg, Humboldt County, California in 1902. He died on 29 July
1928. A clipping from a Eureka or Fortuna newspaper tells of his death:
"FORTUNA, July 30.--Apparently slipping into a deep pool while fishing, Joseph Burgess, aged 26 and a resident of Blocksburg was drowned at Palace Rock, about fourteen miles beyond Bridgeville some time toward noon yesterday morning, according to information brought here today when the body was taken to the Hunter-Wise funeral parlors. "According to the story told by his companions, a group of five men who with Burgess had been camping on the Russ ranges where they were employed in building a fence, Burgess and the other members of the party started out Sunday morning to fish. In the course of the morning the fishermen separated and scattered along the stream. When they had finished their fishing they noted that Burgess was missing and in searching for him discovered his body in a deep hole. It is reported that he could not swim. "Burgess, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George G. Burgess of Eureka was a native of Blocksburg. He attended the Eureka high school, graduating with the class of '21. "Besides his wife, who before her marriage three years ago was Miss Aileen Madden of Blocksburg and his parents who reside in Eureka, Burgess leaves the following relatives, a sister, Miss Bessie Burgess and a brother Dallas Burgess of Eureka; three aunts, Mrs. S. A. Shields, Mrs. Sadie Thompson, and Mrs. J. E. Godfrey, all of Eureka; three uncles, Ed. Burgess of Blocksburg, Frank Smith of Eureka and George Smith of Miranda and another aunt and his grandmother who reside in Nevada. "The inquest will be held tomorrow in the Hunter-Wise funeral parlor here. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made." He was buried in the Barnwell Memorial Cemetery in Blocksburg, Humboldt County, California. He married Aileen E. Madden about 1925.

on 22 June 1935 in Lodi, San Joaquin County, California. Cyril was born 5 December 1905. Cyril was the son of Romanzo
Lowe and Alice Hutchings. He died 11 June 1975. He was buried in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California.
Bessie was listed as a daughter in George Grant Burgess's household on the 1920 Census in Eureka, Humboldt County, California.(74)
