OBITUARY The funeral of the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred CLARK will take place this morning from the Merryman chapel. Interment Greenwood cemetery.
The funeral of Mrs. Eva SILVA LOWE, wife of S. W. LOWE, will be held from the George F. Merryman chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The LOWE home has been near Casa Grande, where Mrs. LOWE died on August 30.

Indian Pupils Come In--John NACHO, of San Miguel Indian village south of Sells, arrived via Tucson yesterday with a party of nine Papago pupils for the Indian school.
Los Angeles guests who arrived yesterday at the Commercial hotel included L. W. SHUPP, Gladys TRULOCK, Angus CASHION and Mr. and Mrs. Ayres McADOO.
Dr. D. G. GLAUS, chiropractor, returned yesterday after a vacation on the coast. He has re-opened his offices in the National Bank of Arizona Building.
Jeff DUNCAN returned to Phoenix yesterday after several weeks spent on the coast. He spent the major portion of his stay there in Los Angeles.

News of Brother's Death BERT NEWMAN of the Palace Barber Shop received a telegram yesterday telling of the death of his brother, W. B. NEWMAN at Las Vegas, N. M. The message gave no details.
Back from Vacation Mrs. SANDOZ and two daughters, Gillian and Hazel, arrived yesterday from California. Hazel SANDOZ left yesterday for her school in Miami.
Leaves for Oregon Mrs. A. D. QUINN leaves today for Oregon where she will spend there weeks visiting her daughter, Mrs. T. C. MENARD.
Funeral of Dr. VICKERS The funeral of Dr. Geo. W. VICKERS will take place on Thursday morning from the Episcopal church. The arrangements were announced yesterday on the return of Mrs. VICKERS from Greenville, Ohio, where she was visiting at the time of the death of her husband. Mrs. McLANE, a sister of Mrs. VICKERS, who was also in Ohio, returned with her. The funeral of Dr. VICKERS will be under the auspices of the Knights Templar of which he was grand commander of the order in Arizona in 1905. He has been for many years a loyal and prominent mason. The services will be conducted by Rev. Bertram R. COCK. Interment will be in Greenwood.
Funeral of HARRY KIEFNER -- The funeral of Harry KIEFNER, who passed away at the family home Monday will be held this afternoon from the Whitney Undertaking parlors. The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Effie May KIEFNER and three brothers, J. R. KIEFNER, of Wichita, Kansas, who arrived here for the funeral last night, Charles E. KIEFNER, of Los Angeles, and Lynn E. KIEFNER, of Wichita. ... (page cut off)

JOHN H. PAGE Better -- John H. PAGE who has been seriously ill with pneumonia, is reported greatly improved. Mr. PAGE with Mrs. PAGE have been passing the summer in Vermont.
HOLUB Returns -- Joseph M. HOLUB, assistant United States attorney, returned last night from Prescott, having remained there until the adjournment of the district court last Saturday night.
Christmas Visitors -- Mrs. H. L. FULLER and Mrs. George E. BARDWELL of Christmas, arrived in the city yesterday and are registered at the Hotel Adams.
To Visit Mother -- Mrs. C. P. LEE left last night for El Reno, Oklahoma and Omaha, Nebraska. In El Reno she will visit with her mother, returning to Phoenix within two or three months.
Bridegroom Returns -- Avery CORPSTEIN returned yesterday from California. Mrs. CORPSTEIN who prior to her marriage a few weeks ago was Miss Georgia MINTZ, will remain on the coast until the latter part of the month.
WHITNEY back from coast -- J. R. WHITNEY returned yesterday from a three-weeks absence on the coast. mrs. WHITNEY and her daughter, Miss Marian WHITNEY, who have been in Toronto for the summer, will return Tuesday.

KEETS, who died in South Dakota in June, left real estate in that state, although his most extensive holdings are in this valley. His widow and their two daughters reside in Spearfish, S. D., while a son, Charles KEETS, makes his home in Phoenix.
Bride Ill, Wedding Postponed -- The marriage of Miss Edith ERICKSON of Ogden, Utah, and J. W. ROGERS of North Central avenue, which was to have taken place yesterday, was postponed when the bride-to-be was taken seriously ill shortly after her arrival here. She was rushed to the hospital and an operation for appendicitis performed. Prior to her arrival here, Miss ERICKSON was held up by the railway strike.

NOT ENOUGH MONEY--In Yesterday morning's Republican it was erroneously announced that the value of the estate of Henry KEETS has been placed at $20,000. The amount should have been $300,000.
Dr. A. E. MARDEN, physician at the Indian School, has returned from a vacation of several weeks spent in Los Angeles and vicinity. Mrs. MARDEN has been compelled by illness to remain for a longer period in California and will return later with her two daughters, ISABEL and RACHEL.
R. L. EDWARDS was arrested yesterday morning by Officer PAPO for riding a wheel on the sidewalk. He put up $3 bail and did not appear when his case was called by Judge THOMAS.
Charging desertion Paul RITTNER yesterday instituted divorce proceedings in the superior court against Mrs. Rose RITTNER. The couple married in Wilcox in October 1905 and the alleged desertion occurred in June 1916. The RITTNERs have two children, Raymond, aged 11, and Marian, 7 years old.
Miss H. NELSON who gives her address 2222 Fifteenth St., San Francisco, has written to the sheriff's office for information relative to the whereabouts of Roy FRENCH. She describes FRENCH as a man of 36 with brown eyes and dark hair who is "a little over five feet."
Accused by Rosalia SAWYER of being a disturber of the peace, Nellie PENALOZA was arrested on a warrant yesterday by Officer J. B. BLEA and will appear in police court today to explain. The two women are residents of South Fifth avenue near Hadley street and are alleged to have been quarreling, following which one called the other an alleged bad name.
Mabel SHAW, charged with being the keeper of a disorderly house at 603 North Second street and with violation of Section 2 of Social Ordinance 160, was arrested yesterday morning by Officers STRATHY and HASTINGS. Edith RICHARDSON, charged with being an inmate of the house, ordered to appear in police court yesterday afternoon, forfeited $25 bail.
That the Wickenburg road has been placed in complete repair was the statement made yesterday by Harold BARGMAN, county engineer.
The Mitchell roadster belonging to Dr. Kimball BANNISTER and stolen Monday night has been recovered according to word that reached the sheriff's office from Parker yesterday. Parker authorities stated that the car and its driver, Harry DOUGLAS were being held pending the arrival of an officer from this county. Deputy Sheriff Jim TROUTMAN, who was detailed on the case, left last night for Parker.
Mrs. Mary P. STANDAGE yesterday filed a petition for letters of administration of the estate of John J. STANDAGE who died at his home in Mesa August 22 leaving property valued at $16,000. Besides the widow who is the petitioner, the heirs at law include the sons and daughters of the dead man, Rowena MILLET and Vivian, Gerald, Sarah and Ralph STANDAGE.
Six-year-old Hilda Viola LEWIS will divide her time between her parents who were divorced by Judge STANFORD yesterday. According to a stipulation the child will pass six months of the year with her mother and the remaining six months with her father, Harry E. LEWIS whom Mrs. Leona LEWIS accused of cruelty.
R. M. MONAGHAN, manager of the Jefferson hotel, returned overland from the coast Tuesday accompanies by Mr. and Mrs. John McRUER, who were married here two weeks ago and have been on their honeymoon to Long Beach. Mrs. McRUER will be remember as Miss Luella DAVIS, formerly with the Jefferson Hotel and more recently employed in Dr. MORRIS' office. Mr. McRUER is a mining man of Ajo.
Miss Katherine BLENDINGER, a deputy in the office of the clerk of the superior court, returned yesterday from a month's vacation on the coast. She was accompanied by her mother, Mrs. E. E. BLENDINGER who has also returned to Phoenix.
Miss Esther MILES of Long Beach, California, and John A. CLIFTON were united in marriage August 30.

IRON SPRINGS, Sept. 3. -- Friday afternoon in the midst of hail and rain a pine tree a few feet from the cottage of Mrs. Garland B. COUCH was struck by lightning.
The COGGINS cottage was the scene of a house party when Misses Ruth and May COGGINS entertained several friends. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. COGGINS chaperoned the party. The guests were: Miss Margaret CLARK, Miss Ruth HELM, Miss Gertrude FOGLE, Miss HELM, Everett ASKINS, Herbert ASKINS, Mr. HELM, Mr. STILLMAN, Milton COGGINS and Ralph COGGINS.
The Raymond BATTINS closed their cottage Friday and returned home. Others who left on Friday evening's train were: Miss Josephine FRANKLIN, Mrs. V. O. WALLINGFORD, Miss Eleanor WALLINGFORD, Richard WALLINGFORD and Mrs. Emma JACK.
The train Friday brought several people to spend the week end and Labor Day in Iron Springs. The arrivals were: Miss Gertrude FOGLE, Miss Margaret CLARK, Mr. and Mrs. Fred BLAIR TOWNSEND, Dr. DENNETT, E. T. COLLINGS, J. S. GRIFFIN, E. M. LAMSON, W. S. HEFLIN and S. LEWIS.
Little Jimmie McINTOSH who was the guest of the F. T. ALKIRES for a week has returned home.
Those who arrived in camp Saturday night were Ralph MURPHY and R. E. LEWIS.
Sunday evening Mrs. EDDY, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. BENNETT, Mr. and Mrs. Henry GEORGE and Eddie GEORGE picnicked close to Alto.
Ref. LOGIE gave the address at the church service held in the pavilion.
Mrs. W. J. McMANUS came over from Prescott on Sunday evening's train and stayed until the following day with her sister Mrs. Raymond PATTON.
Mrs. SNODGRASS is in Iron Springs visiting her daughter Mrs. Raymond PATTON.
Families continue to close their cottages and return home. Those leaving Sunday were: Mrs. MALLOR and daughter, Mrs. Emery KAYS, Miss Mary HULETT, A. G. HULETT and Arthur HULETT, Mr. and Mrs. Victor KOHLBERG, Dr. Van Der VEER and John IRVINE.
A great many people returned home Monday evening. Among these were: Miss Ruth COGGINS, Miss Gertrude FOGLE, Miss Margaret CLARK, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. HEFLIN, Mr. and Mrs. R. F. FELAND, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. LEWIS, little Raymond LAWIS, Stillwell LEWIS, Mrs. High WEATHERFORD and baby, Mrs. John PARKS, Susan CURRY, E. M. LAMSON, J. S. GRIFFIN, E. T. COLLINGS, Herbert ASKINS, Everett ASKINS and Mr. and Mrs. Billy WOLF.
Albert WINSHIP arrived from San Pedro, California, Monday, to be the guest of Mrs. T. E. IRVINE for a few days.
L. N. BUTLER motored in Iron Springs Monday morning.

Miss Frances GODDARD spent Labor Day in Iron Springs as the guest of Miss Isabelle IRVINE. Miss GODDARD's home is in Prescott.
J. R. BRADSHAW and Rev. MILLER arrived on the midnight train Monday.
The COGGINS family left by motor for Phoenix Tuesday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred BLAIR TOWNSEND who were the week end guests of Miss Ethel STABLER returned home Tuesday morning.
George ALKIRE left with his uncle, George ALKIRE Sr., by motor for the Grand Canyon.

ARMY OFFICER TO TAKE BRIDE BACK TO VISIT FRANCE -- When Major William HUNTER returns to France, he will take with him an American bride, the army officer having been married in this city yesterday to Miss Bessie STROHACHER of San Antonio. Ceremony held in Judge STANFORD's chambers at the noon hour. The major, who gave his age as 33 to the marriage license clerk, stated that he had been in the army since he was a lad, having served 15 years. He is at present stationed at Whipple Barracks in charge of the hospital, but expects to return to France shortly. His bride, who is a charming southern girl, gave her age as 26.

Iva Genevieve WRAY, daughter of Ira J. WRAY of 1110 East Filmore street died yesterday at 3 o'clock. The funeral will be held from the H. M. Maus undertaking parlors at 311 North First avenue at 3'o'clock this afternoon. Rev. J. A. WALES will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood.

To Teach School -- Miss Margeret WEST left Friday for Winslow where she will teach in the grade schools there. She is a graduate of the Tempe Normal school. She will specialize in domestic science at Winslow.
Held to Answer -- Carlos VASQUEZ, charged with burglary, waived his preliminary examination before Justice DeSouza yesterday and was held to answer to the superior court in the sum of $600 which was not furnished. F. W. McINTOSH is the complainant.
L. S. CHAMBERS Home -- L. S. CHAMBERS of Peoria, arrived Thursday and is staying at the Jefferson Hotel.
Superior Men Arrive --Harry LEFKOVITS and Louis LEFKOVITS of Superior, arrived Thursday evening in the city. They are registered at the Jefferson hotel.
To Be Examined -- Ira BIRD will be given his preliminary examination in Justice DeSOUZA's court at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon on the charge of wrongfully taking water from an irrigation ditch. Michael SOTAK, the complainant, alleged that Baird took water from the Western canal to defraud him.
Had Finished His Time -- Sixty days in the county jail for the theft of a bicycle was the sentence imposed on Louis BALES by Judge STANFORD yesterday. The court ordered the Indians sentence to date from the time of imprisonment which permitted him his leberty at once. BALES will have to refund to the owner of the bicycle the $5 he recovered on the wheel.
EXECUTOR APPOINTED -- J. E. HORN, executor of the estate of Frank E. DAVIS, was appointed guardian of Lillian Ernestine DAVIS and Donald DAVIS the children of Davis who will share his $8,000 estate. Horn, who has known the orphans since birth was made their guardian by Judge LYMAN who placed his bond at $3000. Davis accidentally shot and killed himself when unloading a pistol. His wife died three months ago.

MILNES ON VACATION -- P. R. MILNES, secretary to Governor Campbell, has left for his summer vacation.
HERE ON BUSINESS -- A. W. FULTS of St. Louis, arrived yesterday on business and is registered at the Jefferson hotel.
VISITING COAST -- Mrs. Albert DONNELLY and two children are spending a few weeks visiting relatives in Los Angeles.
ON BUSINESS TRIP -- Arthur TONGELAND of Florence, arrived yesterday in the city. He is stopping at the Jefferson Hotel.

BUICK REPORTED STOLEN -- Buick Roadster No 23,560, engine number 306,135, belonging to E. A. ROWE, 102 N. Central Avenue, was reported stolen to the police shortly before 6 o'clock yesterday morning.
