The Arizona Republic March 18, 1933 Marriage Held Vernon WEIGOLD and Flossie STAHL were married Thursday evening by the Rev. E. E. BARNHARDT at the home of the latter on North Third street. They were attended by Chester GILLETTE and Miss Edith MAST. Mrs. WIEGOLD is the daughter of Mrs. M. SMITH of Phoenix, and Mr. WEIGOLD the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank WEIGOLD, South Palm lane, Glendale. Rites To Be Held Funeral services for Cordon Benjamin FRANKLIN, father of the late Dr. R. T. FRANKLIN, have been announced by J. S. BRAZILL. The rites will be conducted at the A. H. McLELLAN chapel in Phoenix. Mr. FRANKLIN died at the Whipple Barracks hospital, Prescott. The Rev. Walter HOFMANN, pastor of the Glendale Christian church, will officiate. Survivors are the widow, Christine G. FRANKLIN; a daughter, Laura Lee FRANKLIN of Calhoun County, Kentucky; two sisters, Mrs. Ada MILLER of Calhoun, and Mrs. Myrtle ATCHINSON of Hollywood, Calif.; one brother, Iremis FRANKLIN, Evansville, Indiana, and two grandchildren, Jeanne and Bobby FRANKLIN of Glendale. To Idaho Mr. and Mrs. Daniel F. OLSEN left Thursday for Firth, Idaho, where they will make their home. Before their marriage several weeks ago, Mrs. OLSEN was Mrs. Libbie WHIPPLE, faculty member of the Irving School. Visiting Here Mr. and Mrs. D. E. WESTOVER, Clarkdale, are visiting here for several days as guests at the home of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. SOLOMON. Celebrate Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. John RAWSON were honored guests at a card party at their home, 649 North Robson, when friends entertained in celebration of their 17th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Jack NARRAMORE have announced the birth of a son, Sunday evening at the home of Mrs. NARAMORE's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. T. BAKER. Mrs. Walter HIGGINS returned to her home here Saturday after spending several days in Phoenix with relatives. Revival held at the Baptist church here will be under the direction of the Rev. State Debaters Flagstaff, Mar. 20--Five students from the Arizona State Teachers College here will leave tomorrow for California to take part in the Pacific coast forensic tournament at the College of the Pacific, Stockton, Calif., March 23-25. The men's debate team is composed of Clarence FLOOD, Jerome and Harvey IRWIN, Victorville, Calif. The women's, Dora E. RICKSON and Mildred SWANSON, both of Bisbee. Henry HOWE, Douglas, is orator. Dr. Mary A. HILL, a debate coach and head of the English department will accompany the students. Rites Arranged for Mesa Man GRANDY, Seth P. -- Funeral services for Seth P. GRANDY will be conducted from the Gibbons chapel with the Rev. J. H. THOMPSON, pastor of the Methodist church, in charge. Mr. GRANDY, 35 years old, died Sunday night at the family home, 117 Pasadena street. He had been in ill health for some time. With his family, he had made his home here the past 15 years. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Dorothy GRANDY; a son, Thomas, nine, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. GRANDY. Mesa post, American Legion, of which the deceased was a member, will assist at the service. Former Mesan Dies Tom SABIN, formerly of Mesa, died suddenly Sunday morning in Gila Bend, relatives here were informed. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. SABIN, a sister, Mrs. William STEINEGGER, and a brother, Byron, survive. Arrangements are being made for funeral services to be held here. McGEE Service Final rites for James McGEE, 63 years old, who died Sunday at his home east of Mesa, will be held from the Gibbons parlors. The Rev. T. C. HARRIS will officiate. Mr. McGEE, a rancher here the past 13 years, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace McGEE. Birthday Dinner Mrs. Ed BLOOMER was honored at a dinner party in celebration of her 74th birthday anniversary yesterday at her home on South Mesa Boulevard. Mr. and Mrs. W. N. BARKLEY, Mary Ellen and Keith. Junior Student Dies at Tempe Burgess LeRoy ROE, junior at the Arizona State Teachers college here, died in the college infirmary yesterday. Funeral arrangements await the arrival of his parents from Elgin, Kansas. Death of the 25-year-old football and baseball star was due to a cardiac condition, physicians said. He had been ill several weeks. The son of Mr. and Mrs. William T. ROE of Elgin, he was born in Grenola, Kansas, October 31, 1908, and attended the public schools of Grenola and Elgin. ... Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother. The Arizona Republic April 26, 1933, p. 4 Fines Levied For Gambling Joseph GASHIO pleaded guilty before Clarence E. ICE, East Phoenix justice, to a gaming charge, then paid a $100 fine in lieu of a 100-day jail sentence...Al STEINMAR, John H. TAIT and Joe MECHAM pleaded guilty before Nat T. McKEE, West Phoenix justice, to "maintaining and carrying on a 'lottery'". TAIT and MECHAM paid $20 fines and STEINMAR a $10 fine. Complaints also were Issued by JENNINGS charging Lou MOUCHOW with operating a black jack game, and "John Doe Brownie" with operation of a roulette wheel... Fire Damages Two Dwellings Fire of undetermined origin damaged two dwellings at 1527 and 1529 West Jackson street about 10 o'clock last night. The blaze was seen in a duplex at 1527 West Jackson street by M. E. BERNARD, 1534 West Jackson street, who summoned fire equipment. Occupants of the duplex, the Rev. and Mrs. Albert BOWLER of the Phoenix Rescue Mission and the J. R. HOUGHTON family were not at home when the fire was discovered. The flames caused considerable damage to the roof of the duplex and spread to an adjoining dwelling occupied by Mrs. Hannah LARSEN and family... Buckley Rites Set For Today Funeral services for Minnie E. BUCKLEY, 77 years old, who came to Phoenix 35 years ago and was married here, will be held this afternoon from Memory Chapel of A. L. Moore and Sons. The Rev. C. Arlin HEYDON will officiate. Mrs. BUCKLEY, a native of Kenosha County, Wisconsin, was predeceased by her husband a year after her arrival in Phoenix...A niece, Mrs. E. M. JOHNSTONE, Pasadena, Calif., and a nephew, G. W. CUMMINGS, Evanston, Illinois, two of her closest surviving relatives, are here for the funeral. Services in the Greenwood Memorial Park crematory will be private.
