Tord Matsson was a businessman, alderman (rådmann) and judge in Bergen. He was a "væpner", which meant that he had the right to a coat-of-arms as a member of the lower nobility. Tord was descended from the Losna family and his coat-of-arms consisted of a stack of 5 diamonds between two serpents. He is mentioned in a long series of documents between 1512 and 1530. Whenever he was named together with the other rådmenn of Bergen, Tord was mentioned first. This indicates that he was the most socially prominent of the rådmenn and held the highest rank among them.
