908. Cornelius* VAN DER
HOFF(646) was born in 1683 in
Albany, Albany Co, New York, USA. He Baptised at Albany Dutch Church on 16 Sep
1683 in Albany, Albany Co, New York, USA. Sponsors Jurriaen Caillarat and Geertruy
Cornelise. He died on 28 May 1765 in New York, USA. He had an estate probated
on 28 May 1765. The Will named all of his children except Marietje, who had
died young.
CORNELIUS VAN DER HOEF went with his family to Bergen County, New Jersey where,
on 18Oct1712 at the Hackensack Dutch Church, he married Elizabeth Louweryns Ackerman,
born 1691 or 1692, daughter of Lawrence Ackerman and his wife Geertje Egberts
of Albany. Cornelius was listed as a debtor in the estate of John McDowell, physician,
of Hackensack (NJA 30:316), and he made his own will there as a yeoman on 16Jan1742.
Since this was not probated until 28May1765, he probably died that year. The
will, in which his wife and friends Jacob Blinkerhoof and Jacob Oldwatter were
executors, named children Johannis, Laurence, Gertje, Dorothy, Catherine, Jacob,
Cornelius, Egbert, Jannetje and Neally. H.S. Ackerman in the Ackerman Family
lists these same children (including also a Peter, born 1723) but reverses the
order of Johanis and Laurence, which is felt to be incorrect from other indications.
He was married to Elizabeth (Lysbeth)* ACKERMAN on 18 Oct 1712 in Hackensack,
Bergen Co, New Jersey, USA. At the Dutch Reformed Church. Elizabeth was recorded
as having been born and now living in Hackensack, NJ. Cornelis was recorded
as having been born in Albany, Albany Co., NY, and now living in Hackensack.
909. Elizabeth (Lysbeth)* ACKERMAN
(647) was born about 1691. Children
were:
454 i.
Johannis* VANDERHOEF.
ii.
Laurence VAN DER HOFF(648) was born
about 1716 in Hackensack, Bergen Co, New Jersey, USA. LAWRENCE VAN DER HOFF
first lived in Hackensack, but later moved to New York City, where he and his
wife became members of the Dutch Church on 17Feb1766. He was still living there
in 1775 when he made his will on 06Sept1775, although his wife had probably predeceased
him as she is not mentioned therein. Surviving children named are designated
(*) below. Since the will was probated in New York City on 15Dec1785, he probably
died there shortly before. He had married Agnietje, daughter of John (GMNJ 18:22)
& Marytje (Ackerman) ALLEN, of New York City on 07May1743 at the Dutch Church
in Hackensack.
iii.
Gertje VAN DER HOEF(649) was born

Jacob VAN DER HOEF(652) was born
about 1725 in Hackensack, Bergen Co, New Jersey, USA. He Baptised at Bergen
Reformed Dutch Church on 7 Mar 1725. JACOB VAN DER HOEF continued living in
Bergen Co with his wife and became a member of the Schraalenburgh Dutch Church
on 02Nov1766. The last recorded mention of Jacobus and his wife Maria was when
they sponsored on 24May1774 Marretje, daughter of their daughter Martyntje in
the New York Dutch Church. Since he left no will and there is no record of an
estate, the time of this death is unknown. Jacob married 20May1748 at Hackensack
to Maria OUTWATER, daughter of Jacob Franszen and Martyntje (Berthholf) Outwater
(GBR 55:352).
vii.
Cornelius VAN DER HOEF(653) was born
about 1727 in Hackensack, Bergen Co, New Jersey, USA. He Baptised at Bergen
Reformed Dutch Church on 3 Sep 1727. CORNELIUS VAN DER HOEF died at a comparatively
early age, in that his will was dated 18Feb1757, New York City, and probated
03Mar1758. In it he described himself as a carpenter and made his wife, Jane,
executor and sole legatee; but since no children were named and no record of
any has been found, it is doubtful that he had any. On 08Jun1754 at New York
in the Dutch Church, he married Jannetje Andriesse (or Jane ANDERSON). As his
widow, she witnessed a baptism in New York in 1758 and joined the Dutch Church
there on 01Feb1768. She signed a deposition on 16Feb1758 as widow and executor
of Cornelius, together with Andrew Lowsie, bricklayer of New York, and Priscilla,
his wife, relative to a mistake made in the count of some prize money paid her
as her husband's share (CEM 2:684). She was buried in the New York City Dutch
Church on 31Mar1791.

Marietje VAN DER HOEF(654) was

(655) She Baptised at Acquackanonk Reformed Dutch Church on 2 Nov
1729.
ix.
Egbert VAN DER HOEF was born in 1732 in Hackensack, Bergen Co, New Jersey,
USA. He Baptised at Hackensack Dutch Church on 15 Mar 1732 in Hackensack, Bergen
Co, New Jersey, USA. EGBERT VAN DER HOEF had one child baptized at Tappan in
Orange (now Rockland) Co; this may indicate that he temporarily moved there,
but since it is so close to New York City, this cannot be considered conclusively.
He married at Schraalenburgh on 27Jan1756 to Margrieta ENNELY (or ANNELI or HENDERSLY)
whose family is unknown. In the baptism of Cornelius the mother was listed as
Maria LEZIER, but this is felt to have been an error.
x.
Jannetje VAN DER HOEF(656) was born
about 1734 in Hackensack, Bergen Co, New Jersey, USA. She Baptised at Bergen
Reformed Dutch Church on 22 Dec 1734.
xi.

about 1735 in Hackensack, Bergen Co, New Jersey, USA.
