SIXTEENTH GENERATION

65164. Johannes på* AGA (880)(899) (766)(767) was born in 1470 in Hardanger, Norway. He died about 1563 in Aga gård #64, Ullensvang, Hordaland, Norway. Johannes was living at Aga in 1519 and paid the highest tax in Hardanger in 1521 (40 marks). There has been some confusion on whether he was the son of Torgils Vikingsson Aga or married to one of his daughters. The latest research tends to support the latter theory. He was married to Gyrid (?)* TORGILSDATTER Aga in Ullensvang, Norway.

65165. Gyrid (?)* TORGILSDATTER Aga(914) (767) was born about 1475 in Aga gård #64, Ullensvang, Hordaland, Norway. She died in Aga gård #64, Ullensvang, Hordaland, Norway. Children were:

child ii. Laurits JOHANNESSON Galtung(914) (925)(767) was born about 1510 in Børve, Ullensvang, Rogaland, Norway. He died about 1563 in Valen gård #3, Fjelberg, Hordaland, Norway. Laurits Johannesson was the progenitor of the younger branch of the Galtung family. He was probably born somewhere in Ullensvang, possibly at Øvre Børve. Laurits appears to have lived at Seim in Kvinnherred from about 1537. Seim was the family seat of his brother-in-law, the famous admiral (some say pirate), Kristoffer Trondsson Rustung. Sometime around 1550 he moved to Valen, which he appears to have acquired through his wife. Her father probably acquired it from the ancient noble family of Dall. Laurits wasn't mentioned in the 1563 tax records, so he must have died sometime previously. A document of 1564 indicates that Laurits had been a lagrettemann, but was now "with God."
