LEBANON LUTHERAN CEMETERY

ROWAN CO. NORTH CAROLINA

Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery is located in the Woodleaf/Barber Junction community of Rowan Co. North Carolina.

After the help of a lady whose son in law, Thom Bolick, descends through this family, we discovered that Sarah Emeline Cline, daughter of Noah Cline married 28 July 1846 Catawba Co NC to Sarah Barger, had married Langdon "Lank" F Bolick and was a widow by 1880. Langdon's parents were Jacob Bolick and Mariah Reis/Reese from Catawba Co. North Carolina. It is believed that Jacob Bolick and David Bolick and his wife, also nee Sarah Bolick were brothers. David and Sarah's daughter, Sophia Bolick married Noah Cline as his 2nd wife. Descendants from both of Noah Cline's families are buried in this cemetery and they knew they were all related. Noah Cline and Sarah Barger had two daughters (Sarah Emeline Cline above) and, Susan Caroline Cline b abt April 1847 died 18 Jan 1901 married 31 Dec 1868 in Caldwell Co NC Daniel Shehan. I found a death certificate for Susan and Daniel Shehan's son Horace Shehan born 15 Sept 1879 in Burke Co. NC died August 20, 1921 is also buried here in an unmarked grave. Church records indicate that Susan Shehan and two of her daughters were members of this church and gives death dates for them. They are probably also buried here in unmarked graves. We have indication of the Shehan's being buried here with one stone for a Lemiel Shehan who was probably Horace's son.

It is unknown where Lank Bolick died or when and a grave hasn't been found to date.

Lank and Sarah had two sons, who were both born in Catawba County from information on their death certificates.

Not sure who's child this is

On my visit to Rowan Co I contacted Darryl Bolick who took me to the cemetery where I obtained the photos. Darryl also provided me with family bible records which had been given to Vastine Bolick by his mother Lucy Jane Morgan in 1930. Darryl's parents, Henry Lewis Bolick and Margaret Otelia Griner are buried here.
