WAR OF 1812 OR MILITIA LIST CAPT ABRAHAM GFELLARS COMPANY GREENE CO. TENNESSEE This list of four divisions of Capt. Abraham Gfellars apparently was found in an old house near Greeneville. The originals are on display at the T. Elmer Cox Library, Greeneville, Tennessee. It is not dated, nor is it marked with the fact it is from the War of 1812.After mulling over this list for sometime, I now believe this list may be a militia list either prior to the War of 1812 or for the War of 1812. It is not dated, but I know that Malachi Click would probably have been too old to serve in the War of 1812. He would have been approximately 43 years old. Due to the many Indian problems in the area they established Militia's to protect the settlers. Whatever the time frame, it serves as a record for our Greene County history of the settlers living in the county very early. Please advise me if you find that I have incorrectly listed the family member, as some names I am not familiar with. I am typing them as they are spelled. I have photographed the list & split it into sections for better images. Follow the links from the divisions to see a copy of the original document with your family members listed. You military men will have to help me with some of this as I'm also not familiar with rank. So PLEASE anyone that can read something I can't determine, let me know so I can correct it.
