Leopold Meyer
Leopold Meyer, who died this morning at his home, 303 Depeyster Street, had a stroke of paralysis September 12 and remained unconscious till the end. Mr Meyer was born in Germany December 14, 1844, the family coming to the United States when he was 6 years old. He was a veteran of the civil war. August 29, 1864 he enlisted for one year in Company L, First Regiment Veteran Cavalry, receiving his discharge at Camp Fiatt, W. Va., June 8, 1865. He belonged to Skillin Post, No., 47, G.A.R., and was a member of St Mary's Church. January 17, 1871, he married Elizabeth Bauer, who survives; also one daughter, Mrs. Henry Mumbach, of this city; two sons, Peter H Meyer, of Peoria, ILL., and Fred G Meyer, of this city; and one brother, Felix Meyer, of Rome. He had been employed for 40 years with one firm, which is now the W.W. Parry Coal Company, resigning three years ago on account of poor health.
