Dr Henry F. Aten of Brooklyn New York says his grandfather, William Aten was born in Sussex, New Jersey in 1768 and that his fathers name was Garrett Aten was also born in New Jersey, in 1796, and was living in Tecumseh, Michigan in 1881. The Doctor thinks his grandfather’s children were all born in Sussex County New Jersey, namely Elizabeth, Garrett, Peter, Henry S. [F., not S.], Matthias and John who live in Groveland, New York.
