Edition dated July 31, 1869:
Mrs. Louisa Kaelin, of Selma, committed suicide on Monday evening last, by taking arsenic.

John F. Brown, of Sumpter county, was stricken with paralysis last week.

We learn that Major T. C. Prince, of Sumpter county, Ala., died at the Gault House, in Louisville, on the 19th inst.

A negro woman, Martha McConnico, drew one thousand and twenty dollars on a three dollar ticket, in one of the lotteries in Selma, Ala., last week.

Elizabeth Rogers, administratrix of the estate of F. A. Rogers, has filed statement, vouchers, etc., for final settlementon the 9th August. Same, guardian of Benj. D. Rogers, minor, will make final settlement of said guardianship on same day.

Edward Curtis and John G. Allen, administrators of the estate of Zachariah Critz, have filed vouchers, etc., for final settlement of said estate on the 9th of August.

R. H. Clarke, administrator of the estate of W. M. Johnson, has filed his accounts and vouchers for a final settlement on the 9th August.

M. A. Hobbs files a petition, accompanied by will of L. W. Hobbs, praying for such proceedings as may be proper for due probate and record of said will. The 9th day of August is set apart as the day for hearing and petition.

M. H. McNeil has filed statements, vouchers, etc., for final settlement of the estate of Zach. Landrum. 9th August set apart for hearing.

S. Hilton, guardian of estate of Sam'l H. Gamble, a minor, has filed vouchers, etc., for final settlement of said guardianship on 9th August.

Mrs. E. A. Lowry, administratrix estate of C. F. Lowry, has filed application praying for order of sale of certain lands belonging to said estate, for the purpose of paying debts, upon the ground that personal property is insufficient therefor. The 16th day of August is set apart for a hearing.


Edition dated August 14, 1869:
Major Jas. T. Dent, an old citizen of Tuscaloosa, died last week.

Miss Virginia Greer, of Mobile, was horribly burned by explosion of a kerosene oil can.

Jeff Burgin, at Elyton, was shot and accidently killed by his friend, Geo. Barton.

Obituary - The subject of this notice, Anna Grant, daughter of G. W. and M. J. Sandusky, died at their residence near Jefferson the 26th of August, 1869, aged 4 years and one month.

A. M. Mills and F. S. Breitling, administrators de bonis non, filed application for order to compromise and settle claims held against estate of Gottlieb Breetling, deceased.

Thomas H. Bradford, administrator of estate of Thos. D. Hall, deceased, files application praying for an order of sale of certain lands of the estate to raise funds to defray debts of said estate. The 20th September set apart to hear said application.


Edition dated August 21, 1869:
A Mr. Jas. Berrier died suddenly near Talladega the other day.

Mr. Thos. Booth, a respected citizen of Dallas county, died on Saturday last.

J. B. Grayson, administrator of S. F. Pool, deceased, files accounts, etc., for partial settlement of his administration.

Letters of administration having been granted J. D. Alexander, on estate of J. M. Alexander, and also upon estate of D. C. Alexander, he calls upon all having claims against said estates to produce them.


Edition dated September 4, 1869:
Jeff McCallay, a negro representative from Madison county, is dead.

Mrs. Bettie Whitfield, Admx, files an application for a order of sale of lands of estate of N. B. Whitfield, deceased.

R. H. Clarke, Adm'r, Benj. Tallaiferro, deceased, filed application for sale of lands of the estate that cannot be equitably divided.

W. E. Pegram, administrator W. W. Horton, deceased, files application for order of sale of land to pay debts of said estate.
