William Alexander THOMPSON and Paulina Susannah HOLLIS
The Thompsons came from North Carolina, possibly Rowan Co., and migrated to Middle Tennessee in the early 19th century. There is some likelihood that they came by way of Kentucky, but so far no proof of this. The earliest ancestor found is Isaac, father of William A. Isaac is said to have ran a boat from Tennessee to New Orleans. After Isaac's death, presumed to be in 1840s, William A. may have continued his father's work. Possibly William A. came to Marion Co. AR several years before actually moving his family there. Tax records have been found there for a William Thompson in the early 1850s, and river boats were known to have traveled up the White River as far as Marion Co. AR. William A. had at least one brother, Ammon Davis Thompson, almost certainly, another brother, Daniel Alexander Thompson, and undoubtedly other unknown siblings.
