     Erich Kranzbühler was born on 10 June 1888 at Neustadt an der Haardt, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany.¹ He was the son of Wilhelm Kranzbühler and Emma Luise Remy.¹

She was the daughter of Wilhelm Kranzbühler and Ella Tiemann.^1,2 Erika was killed at the age of 12 years at 4.15 pm on 3 April 1945 in a bomb raid at Frankenstraße 25, Nordhausen, im Harz, Thüringen, Germany together with her sister Ursula and her aunt by marriage, Hildegard Kranzbühler, nee Rosse as well as Maria Klara Kemmrich, nee Unnerstall (possibly a half aunt by marriage), Karla Irmgard Kemmrich (possibly her 1-year-old daughter) and a Martha Winter (another relative?).^2,3

     Esther Maria Charitas Kranzbühler was born on 30 March 1704 at Worms, Hessen, Germany.¹ She was the daughter of Mattheus Krantzbühler and Margaretha Dorothea Lächeling.¹

     Eugen Kranzbühler was born on 19 January 1841 at Speyer, Pfalz, Germany.² He was the son of Johann Daniel Kranzbühler and Katharina Elisabetha Rhein.¹


After the deaths of all of Johann Andreas's children, his nephew Eugen joined in 1860 the bookprinting business Worms to support his aging and ailing uncle.³

Eugen had joined the book printing business Buchdruckerei Worms at 19-years-old and, at age 25, succeeded as the new proprietor after his uncle Johann Andreas's death.⁴

Eugen Kranzbühler was the last Kranzbühler to own and run the bookprinting business Worms.⁵

Eugen married Rosa Luise Frey on 3 April 1869 at the registry office at Rheinzabern, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany.^6,5 Eugen and Rosa Luise Kranzbühler were religiously married on 3 April 1869 at Erlenbach bei Kandel, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany..⁶


Following the German-French war of 1870/71 the business flourished immensely, although there were 9 printing businesses in Worms at the time. In 1900, they had 32 employees. The main activity of the business had turned to the development and presentation of the Wormser newspaper and its various side publications, but it still kept on a significant branch of book printing.⁴

Eugen's son Theodor was supposed to be his successor in the Buchdruckerei Worms, but he didn't continue the business.

Therefore, after more than 200 years the book printing business Worms was lost to the KRANZBÜHLER family.⁴

In 1907, the brothers Cnyrim purchased the newspaper and the bookprinting business, which they continued to run under the name of "Buchdruckerei Eugen Kranzbühler". In 1943 they ceased publication of the newspaper. Finally, at the end of WWII, in spring 1945, the building of the bookprinting business was bombed out.¹⁰

Eugen died on 29 October 1919 at Worms, Hessen, Germany, at the age of 78 years.⁵

     Friedrich "Fritz?" Kranzbühler was born on 30 March 1886 at Neustadt an der Haardt, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany.¹ He was the son of Friedrich Johann August Kranzbühler and Carola Knipper.¹ At age 28, Friedrich "Fritz?" Kranzbühler was killed in action in WWI 3 November 1914 at bei Nesle, France.¹ He was possibly buried at Kameradengrab, Langemark, Belgium.² If this is the right person in the records of the Kriegsgräberfürsorge Friedrich was an infantrist.²

     Friedrich Daniel Kranzbühler was born in May 1829 at Speyer, Pfalz, Germany.^2,1 He was the son of Johann Daniel Kranzbühler and Anna Catharina Acker.¹ He was christened on 4 May 1829 at St Georgium, Speyer, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany, under the name of Daniel Friedrich Kranzbühler.²
Daniel migrated to America and was not heard of again.¹ He was a soldier in the 12th Missouri Inf. Regiment, deserted on 2 May 1863 .²

The obituary of Marie Kranzbühler lists Gudrun Krüger, Udo Kranzbühler, Hasso Kranzbühler and Astrid (Fahlbusch) Kranzbühler as her surviving decendants.¹⁰
