     Mattheus Krantzbühler was born on 14 September 1671 at (Bad) Dürrnberg, Hallein, Salzburger Land, Austria.^1,4 Other name variations found so far are: Given names: Mattheus, Mattes, Matthias, Surnames: Krantzbühler, Kranzpühler, Kranzpichler, Kranzbichler. Other sources suggest that Mathias was born circa 1669.⁵ He was the son of Anton Kranzbichler and Barbara (?).^1,2 He and his parents Anton and Barbara Kranzbichler, as well as his siblings Magdalena Kranzbichler and Anton Kranzbichler left (Bad) Dürrnberg in September 1686 for religious reasons and moved to Wöhrd (today part of Nuremberg).^1,6 Re: book, Mathias Kranzpichler is mentioned as "moved away in September without permission."⁷

24 September 1686, Mathias Kranzpichler received a temporary residency permit fo 3 to 4 months in Nürnberg, Bayern, Germany after which he had to leave to settle elsewhere.⁸

Matthäus came with his father to Nuremberg in 1686, learnt there and on travels book printing and was, at the age of ca. 25 years (sic), accepted as a citizen on 09th July 1700 in the, through the religious and French wars nearly completely destroyed Worms.

     Wolfgang Hasch(⁹) writes:
     In Nuremberg, Matthäus Kranzbühler learns about the call and offer from the city council of Worms to settle there and help rebuild the in 1689 destroyed city. He sees a chance for his carrier and his future life, so he moves to Worms and applies on 9 July 1700 for citizenship which is granted immediately.⁹


Mattheus Krantzbühler was the founder of the bookprinting business 'Buchdruckerei Worms'
He established his business after he received the license on 17 August 1700.^1,10

Mattheus Krantzbühler married Margaretha Dorothea Lächeling, daughter of Wolfgang Lächeling and Anna Elisabeth Preuer, on 7 February 1702 at Oberrixingen an der Entz, Württemberg, Germany.^1,5
Mattheus Krantzbühler died on 9 May 1713 at Worms, Hessen, Germany, at the age of 41 years (Since one of the last plague epidemics raged in Central Europe from 1709 to 1714, and he and his son Johann Heinrich died within 3 weeks of each other, it is possible that they died of the plague).^1,11

     Otto Wilhelm Krantzbühler was born on 3 November 1708 at Worms, Hessen, Germany. He was the son of Mattheus Krantzbühler and Margaretha Dorothea Lächeling.¹ Further spelling for the name: Kranzbühler.
After Spelter's death on 07 Sep 1743, Matthäus Kranzbühler's' only surviving son, Otto Wilhelm, succeeded as proprietor of the printing business Buchdruckerei Worms at age 35 (sic). At first he concentrated on book trading, only from 1751 he seemed to have pursued printing as the main branch of the business again.²
     Wolfgang Hasch - author of the history of the newspaper "Wormser Zeitung" - wrote in the jubilee edition on 10 Jan 2001 (see text exhibit).³

Otto Wilhelm married Maria Elisabeth Firnekorn, daughter of Johann Heinrich Firnekorn and Anna Catharina Holzmüller (or Monntag), on 12 May 1744 at Worms, Hessen. Otto Wilhelm died on 23 January 1768 at Worms, Hessen, at the age of 59 years.

     Anton Kranzbichler was born in 1638 at (Bad) Dürrnberg, Hallein, Salzburger Land, Austria. (birth date calculated from the statement in the book Joseph Schaitberger³ that 'he was listed in the census of 1647 as a 9yrs-old on his parent's property).^4,5,6 He was the son of Georg Kranzbichler and Christina Kambl.² Other name variations found so far are: given name: Anthony, surnames: Krantzbühler, Kranzpühler.^1,5 He lived with his parents Georg Kranzbichler and Christina in 1647 on the property In der Plaikh, (Bad) Dürrnberg, Hallein, Salzburger Land, Austria.² Anton married Barbara (?).^5,7 Anton and Barbara Kranzbichler, together with their children Mathias Kranzbichler, Magdalena Kranzbichler and Anton Kranzbichler left (Bad) Dürrnberg in September 1686 for religious reasons and moved to Wöhrd (today part of Nuremberg).^5,7
