(Copp's Hill Epitaphs.) Married (2d), Aug. 18, 1768, by the Rev. Joshua Gee to Prudence Clark, daughter of Joseph Clark, Jr., and Prudence Hill of Cambridge. (Boston City Records.) In the last edition of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, pp. 147, 152, 173, John Skillings is stated to have been a Captain of the Militia, and died July, 1801, aged 63 years.
In Feb., 1793, land in Boston is deeded by John Skillen and Prudence, his wife. (Suffolk Deeds, Vol. 175, p. 34.)
In the Columbian Sentinel we find: "Prudence Skillen, widow of John, died in Boston, Sept. 28, 1807, aged 61, and was buried from the house of her son-in-law Prince Snow, Jr." (From Mr. Henry W. Cunningham of Boston.)
Among the assets of the estate of Prince Snow, Jr., is found a note of E. A. & W. Winchester in 1838.

Prudence Skillings, daughter of John, Jr., and his second wife Prudence Clark, was baptized in Boston, Oct. 28, 1770; died there May 7, 1834; was married, Oct. 16, 1796, to Edmund Winchester, Sr., by Rev. Samuel Stillman, pastor of First Baptist Church, Boston. (First publication of marriage, Sept. 22, 1796.) Prudence Skillings admitted to First Baptist Church of Boston, Aug. 7, 1791.

156 BEACON ST., Jan. 2, 1896. "On the 26th of April, 1801, my grandfather, Wm. Arnold of Charlestown, was married to Miss Sally Skillings of Boston, by Rev. Samuel Stillman. Her name is thus spelt both in the records of marriages in Boston, and in the papers of that date."
The grandmother of Mr. Howard Payson Arnold of Boston was the sister of Prudence Skillings, my grandmother. Her name was Sally Skillings, and she married Mr. Wm. Arnold of Charlestown, Mass., in 1801. The mother of Dr. Caleb H. Snow, who wrote a "History of Boston," was Elizabeth Skillings, baptized in 1772, married Prince Snow, Jr. She was also a sister of Prudence Skillings, the wife of Edmund Winchester, Sr.
