He married Susanna Winter in Falmouth, Cumberland, ME, 13 Sep 1755.⁽⁷⁰³⁾ intentions Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland, ME

(Susanna Winter is #4206.)

Susanna was born c1735.⁽⁷⁰⁴⁾ Susanna was the daughter of John Winter and she (Winter).

He was baptized in Falmouth, Cumberland, ME, 30 Aug 1732.⁽⁷⁰⁵⁾ February 2002: C A U T I O N !!!!!!

Dorothy Skillings says (and I second it) that it is unlikely any of the children listed (John, Samuel, James, and Nathaniel, Nehemiah - taken from Henley information) belong to this family unit. The bp dates given are 20+ years after the parents' mariage. It is also highly unlikely that both Nathaniel and Nehemiah both married a Sarah Doane.

Dorothy also says that it is more than likely that Samuel and James belong to Josiah and Susannah (Noyes) Skillings. This I DO NOT CONCUR with. I'm a direct descendant of Josiah and Susannah and have researched their line extensively and insofar as I can determine their line is correct.

NOTE: Alan Lundstedt gives the following information for the family group of Josiah and Susannah (Winter) Skillings:

Josiah SKILLINGS (Samuel SKILLINGS4, Samuel SKILLINGS3, John SKILLINGS2, Thomas SKILLINGS1) was born 7 JUN 1732. He married Susanna WINTER SEP 1755 in Cape Elizabeth (int.), Cumberland, ME, daughter of John WINTER. She was born ABT. 1735.

Children of Josiah SKILLINGS and Susanna WINTER are: + 136 i. John SKILLINGS was born BEF. 14 SEP 1777. 137 ii. Samuel SKILLINGS was born BEF. 31 JAN 1779. 138 iii. James SKILLINGS was born BEF. 21 MAY 1780. 139 iv. Nathaniel SKILLINGS. He married Betsey SKILLINGS, daughter of Joseph SKILLINGS and Anna DOANE.

Ordinarily I would agree with Alan; however, he has been known to make a mistake here and there and I'm in the process of referring this quirk to Tom Henley.

Josiah Skillings and Susanna Winter had the following children:

311 i. Nehemiah⁶ Skillings (#89964).⁽⁷⁰⁶⁾ He married Sarah Doane.⁽⁷⁰⁷⁾ (Sarah Doane is #89965.)

313 iii. Samuel Skillings (#4238) was born in Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland, ME by 31 Jan 1779.⁽⁷⁰⁸⁾ Samuel died 18 Jul 1840 in Gray, Cumberland, ME, at 61 years of age.⁽⁷⁰⁹⁾ He married she (Skillings).⁽⁷¹⁰⁾ (she (Skillings) is #13468.)

He was baptized in Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland, ME, 31 Jan 1779.⁽⁷¹¹⁾

+ 314 iv. James Skillings was born by 21 May 1780.

+ 315 v. Nathaniel Skillings was born 1782.
