William Libby (11-1) b prob Scarborough before the desertion of the town in 1690, s/o Matthew (11) and Elizabeth (Brown) Libby, m 11 Nov 1722 Sarah Brown (7-2), d/o Joshua and Rebecca (Libby) (7-1) Brown. He removed to Scarborough in 1719/20 and was chosen constable at the first town meeting. He seems to have been a man whom his townsmen respected. He served at different times as selectman and in other minor offices. His chief activity, however, was in religiuos matters - he served on nearly or quite all of the committes that the town chose that were related to the church. He settled on a farm in the interior of the town and both he and his wife lived to an advanced age. Children: (1) William b abt 1723, d y; (2) Noah b abt 1725, d unm - the last appearance of his name is as private in Capt George Berry's Company in 1745; (3) Mary b abt 1727, d in girlhood; (4) Hezekiah b 5 Apr 1729, a bachelor, d 27 Oct 1798; (5) Susannah b abt 1731, d y; (6) Elizabeth b 9 May 1733, d 31 Dec 1818, unm; (7) Mehitable b 17 Nov 1735, d y; (8) Sarah b 10 May 1737, m 31 Jul 1766 Michael Davis from Canterbury, MA, she d early in life; (9) William b 12 Nov 1740, d middle age, unm.

William, settled in Scarb. above Oak Hill; selectman, active in town and church affairs. Lists 298(2), 239b. He m 11 Nov 1722 his cous, Sarah Brown(27); both liv to old age. 9 ch.

Hezekiah Libby b 5 Apr 1729 was a bachelor and always lived on his father's homestead. He and his sister Elizabeth kept house together and took their sister Sarah's children to bring up. In their old age they gave their property to Nathan Libby (5-7-15), who married Abigail to support them until death. Hezekiah d 27 Oct 1798.
