Nathan was born 16 Aug 1766 in Scarborough, Cumberland, ME.⁽¹⁹⁴⁴⁾ Nathan was the son of Capt John Libby and Lydia Skillings. Nathan Libby, b Scarborough 16 Aug 1766, m 24 Jan 1790 Abigail Davis. His wife was the only grandchild of William Libby that ever married and he came into possession of her grandfather's homestead farm. He died 11 Feb 1829 and his widow died 6 Mar 1848. Their children, all b Scarborough:

1. Elmira b 22 Oct 1790, m 17 May 1807 Enock Skillings 2. William, b 11 Aug 1792, was drowned at the causeway bridge between schools 6 Jan 1802 3. Amos, b 28 Jul 1794, m Eunice Skillings 4. By a repetition of his father's sin, he became the father of another child: Nathan (Libby) m 15 Aug 1852, Mary E. Morrill of Portland. He was brought up by his mother and Joshua Plummer and really derived his surname from her; but rather than give him the broken number, 1??-5-3-a, which he must have had, it seems preferable to the compiler to place him in his true descent.
