William Henry6 Smith (Ardelia Mae5 Farris, Pvt Daniel4, Hannah Bridges3 Blackwood, Matthew2, Cpl Matr James (John)1) (#50122) was born in Calais, Washington, ME 18 Dec 1881.(1700) William died 27 Feb 1940 in Calais, Washington, ME, at 58 years of age.(1701) Funeral services were held at the Smith residence on Union St Saturday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. A.E. Blaney, pastor of St. Anne's Episcopal Church. There were many friends from Calais and vicinity in attendance and the great profusion of flowers were indicative of the esteem in which he was held. Mr. Smith was engaged more than 30 years in the wholesale and retail grocery and also conducted a large fresh fish business. He was the son of the late John and Ardella Farris Smith. He was united in marriage with Elizabeth Gregory of St. Stephen in 1905. Surviving are his wife, one son Kermit B. of Reading, MA; Miss Arvilla Smith, Swampscott, MA, six brothers: Fred of Reading, Henry from Jamaica Plains, Robert of Belmont, MA, Arthur and Harvey of Calais, and Edward of Boston. Interment was in the family lot in Calais Cemetery, Maine.

He married Elizabeth Gibson Gregory in St. Davids, Madawaska, New Brunswick, CAN, 5 Sep 1905.(1702) (Elizabeth Gibson Gregory is #50149.) Elizabeth was born 23 May 1883 in Nahwaak, New Brunswick, CAN.(1703) of St. Stephen???; also known as Aunt Dump and Lizzie Elizabeth was the daughter of Hugh Gregory and Jane Boyd.

Elizabeth died 23 Apr 1963 in Portland, Cumberland, ME, at 79 years of age.(1704)
