Abstract from e-mail dtd 18 Mar 2000 from Vivian (Martin) Mellish:

Last week I went to visit my mother, Bernice (Anthony) Martin, on Campobello. I went digging through some old papers and I found where Emily (Blackwood) Hilyard had died. There was a receipt in the tin box from Bibber & Flagg Furniture, Eastport, Maine for a broadcloth covered casket and case for the remains of Mrs. Emily Hilyard. The receipt was dated 16 Apr 1910 and made out to Edgar Anthony (who married Emily's daughter, Elizabeth Maude). Elizabeth Maude b 2 Mar 1874, d June 1954, m Edgar Anthony 16 Apr 1891 in Eastport, ME (also found the marriage certificate for this). These items are all in the possession of Bernice (Anthony) Martin. I hope this information is useful to you.

I rececived copies of the above mentioned marriage certificate and receipt from Mrs. Mellish.

She married Daniel Hilyard Jr in Campobello Island, Charlotte, New Brunswick, CAN, 11 Aug 1858.⁽⁵⁶⁹⁾ d Wilson's Beach on Campobello Island

6 children (1 of whom d in infancy); Ralph Blackwood says his surname is Heillard (Daniel Hilyard Jr is #1654.)

Daniel was born 18 Sep 1838 in Campobello Island, Charlotte, New Brunswick, CAN.⁽⁵⁷⁰⁾ Daniel was the son of Daniel Hilyard Sr and Sophia Wentworth. Daniel died 24 Jul 1908 in Wilson's Beach, Campobello Island, New Brunswick, CAN, at 69 years of age.⁽⁵⁷¹⁾ He resided in Wilson's Beach, Campobello Island, New Brunswick, CAN 1871-1896.⁽⁵⁷²⁾ at Wilson's Beach

Occupation: farmer; fisherman.⁽⁵⁷³⁾

Emily Blackwood and Daniel Hilyard Jr had the following children:

Wesley Addison Hilyard (#4744) was born in Wilson's Beach, Campobello Island, New Brunswick, CAN 5 Dec 1861.⁽⁵⁷⁵⁾ Wilson's Beach Wesley died 17 Aug 1932 at 70 years of age.⁽⁵⁷⁶⁾ He married Willina Lomas Wenn in Shapleigh, York, ME, 6 Oct 1913.⁽⁵⁷⁷⁾ as his 2nd wife (Willina Lomas Wenn is #41801.)

Willina was born in La Preaux, New Brunswick, CAN.

Occupation: fisherman.⁽⁵⁷⁸⁾

252 iv. William Warren Hilyard (#9) was born in Wilson's Beach, Campobello Island, New Brunswick, CAN 11 Jun 1865.⁽⁵⁷⁹⁾ William died 13 Jun 1869 in Wilson's Beach, Campobello Island, New Brunswick, CAN, at 4 years of age.⁽⁵⁸⁰⁾

253 v. Matthew Edward Hilyard (#42) was born in Wilson's Beach, Campobello Island, New Brunswick, CAN 21 Feb 1870.⁽⁵⁸¹⁾

+ 254 vi. Charles David Hilyard was born 13 Dec 1871.

+ 255 vii. Elizabeth Maude (Nellie) Hilyard was born 2 Mar 1874.
